Frightening/Intense Scenes: There are curtain scene that may offend or disturbing to some viewers

Story: In the aftermath of his girlfriend's mysterious death, a young man awakens to strange horns sprouting from his temples all chaos comes from it.

Likes : This is not a bad storyline for a film special the novel of  Joe Hill about A man is accused of murdering his girlfriend & the town people baying for blood. until one morning, after having sex with the town trollop, he discovers that he is sprouting a pair of horns from either side of his head.
This is where the concept of the story comes in to play, as it show these horns are for a reason as they say when someone take something you love from you, you must become the devil to take revenge, this show with everyone he meets they tells him of their desires, be they sexual, violence, whatever. More importantly, people tell him the truth which results in some of the funniest, outrageous moments your see in a film although it dose give off this dark chilling concept as the film progress.
It become a man hunt to find out who the person was that took is love away from him.
The film is a clever blend of horror and humour without going overboard on either with a really good entertaining feel to it so your not find yourself getting bored of it, it keeps you watching as you want to find out what going to happen next.
As the movie progresses, it does take on a darker tone which really works for the film & gives this a edge. Daniel Radcliff  has certainly come a long way from his Harry Potter days, and has proven himself to be a very good actor who is quite versatile in doing variety of other roles over the few film since harry potter. The film was original & fresh it is always a good thing when it comes to film's as most film do seem to have the same concept where this is new.
There is moment's where this film can become emotional special a curtain part of the film it becomes a bit of a tear jerker moment which added a nice tone balancing the darker tone give the film a light mood.
There is the concept of the horn that might leave some people thinking why has he got horn well the film dosent quite explain this but you have to understand that when you want revenge it bring out the demon in you this is why he has the horns in the film.
The acting is brilliant from Daniel Radcliff, as I said above, his a really good actor. Final they put the beautiful Juno Temple in a movie where she's not playing some dumb bimbo or town trash which works for her acting as she a brilliant actress in this film even when it was just a short part for her her part were flawless.
David Morse is always awesome. He's a very under-used actor, which is really too bad. The rest of the supporting cast was good as well. The title of the film is a little questionable but easy to look past as this is a great film to watch.

Dislikes : Some people might not get the concept of why he has the horns in the first place, which i do think should of been explain a bit more but i got the concept of it but some other might not.

Overall : Great mix of horror & humour, great acting, , brilliant fresh original story.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 9.5 out of 10 for original story.

Running time: 92 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Man is seen in the bath naked nothing is seen, passionate kissing is seen no sex scene's

Violence & Gore: The battle scene is pretty blood thirsty, the are scene of soldiers implied on pikes, man drinking blood.

Profanity:  Son of a devil, monster few other word strong words.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: wine is seen being drunk in the kings court.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: 15 cert for intense sequences of warfare, vampire attacks, disturbing images and some sensuality, some scene maybe frightening to some viewers.

Story: At the turn of the century, the young lord Vlad Tepes and his young family live a peaceful life ruling over their small kingdom. However, when a ruling rival king with a growing army demands from Vlad the first born male of every family to join his army; Vlad's wife makes a terrible mistake which will change history forever. Vlad's wife, Mirenea travels to visit bloodthirsty witches in the nearby mountains. While there she sells her soul to stop the invading army- the price however is that Vlad will become a blood-thirsty monster that will hunt the ages.

Likes : First i will say is this is not a horror story as such, but there was a few moment that really do make you jump, this really impressed me by keeping true to the history of Vlad the impaler with the Turks taking young boys from family at a young age & raining them to be warriors which one such boy was vlad.
The real history was that vlad after returning home the Turk started again which start a war with vlad. this is where the legend of vlad the impaler story became a vampire as people so though it was when he conquered his enemy & put their body's on pikes & drunk there blood as a right of strength, this is what put the fear in to the enemy think that vlad was some monster.
What clever about this film is it show details of this history with the fantasy of the vampire, but the story is much more than just a vampire story there is a much bigger story going on behind it that is not shown in the trailers which made this film alot better than people have made it out to be.
Yes there is some sort of love story there but as this film process you can see where this is heading, i will say this is the best Dracula film ive seen in a while.
The other films in the past have portrayed Dracula as just a monster, a killing machine with the thirst for blood, but with this film they portray him as a monster but also a character with love & strength to resist the darkness & corruption that come from being vampire.
This darkness is brilliant portray by Luke Evans playing Vlad Tepes, his performance in this film is outstanding in ever way not only showing a father figure & a family man but also the strength & resolve to protect his people no matter the cost which lends him to this path of darkness to the first vampire played brilliantly by Charles Dance, who's presence in this film is truly frightening & chilling to say the least, the on screen presence as him playing this master vampire is truly outstanding & very believable.
Sarah Gadon was absolutely brilliant playing the mother & wife of Vlad with alot of passion in her heart for the man she loves Sarah performance really show this perfect on screen, great performance. Art Parkinson (game of thrones starwho plays the son done a brilliant job portraying the son of vlad with a great performance, Dominic Cooper done a brilliant job as the general Mehmed great final battle scene that well choreograph.
Not once did this film give up the dark concept & a war torn country but also the dark concept of the vampire which makes this one of the most epic vampire film that not only gives you a true Dracula love story but also portrays Dracula better. Those that have play the game castle Castlevania will see this film also has that slight concept of the game as well .One thing this film dose have is there is a bigger story in the concept going on which if you miss the dialogue you will miss the concept of the ending that i mention is beyond the love story, the vampire story as it become a game of chest which i though was very clever in the story.
The fight scene & battle scene are outstandingly choreograph with authentic battle armour from the time period & some of the best special effects with the bats is just spectacular, special with the way they had the morphing of Luke characters from human to hundreds of bats to solid form these special effect much of took ages to do, the team have really pulled this effect off brilliantly.

This is a film i highly recommend watching at the cinema, epic tale of honour, love & struggle.

Dislikes : Nothing wrong with this film

Overall : Brilliant FX, Outstanding performances from all cast, all round epic adventure of the best told Dracula film to date

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 10 out of 10 for story concept/ Real history mixed with fantasy.

Film Review: A Walk Among The Tombstones

Genre: Crime Drama Mystery

Cert: R-rated

Director: Scott Frank

Screen writer: Scott Frank (screenplay), Lawrence Block (novel)

Starring: Liam Neeson , Maurice Compte , Patrick McDade , Luciano Acuna Jr. , Hans Marrero , Laura Birn , David Harbour , Adam David Thompson , Kim Rosen , Dan Stevens , Eric Nelsen , Jon Goracy , Razane Jammal , Stephanie Andujar , Al Nazemian.

Running time: 114 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Rated R for violence, disturbing images, language and brief nudity.

A close-up of a woman's face as a man's lips kiss it briefly, then the camera zeros in on the faces of two men looking at her, then it shows duct tape over the woman's mouth and the woman crying, the two men have their arms on her shoulders and knees (the villains are men that sexually torture women, these acts are off screen.)

A villain smashes a woman against a wall and rips off her top in the process to reveal her bra, and kisses her briefly on the lips, the woman is crying the whole time (sexual menace implied.)

There is a painting of a nude woman in 2 apartments, briefly seen.

A kidnapper tells a detective over the phone that he will send him a cut-off breast of a teen girl if a ransom demand is not met; On a bed a clothed man (villain) orders a woman to choose between her breasts to cut them off (we do not see her breasts, only her face and sexual violence is implied)

Violence & Gore:Lots of violence, as usual with a Neeson movie.

The main villains are a sexual menace

There are exchanges of gunfire and scenes of intense hand-to-hand fighting, including the use of weapons such as bottles, a meat cleaver and a garrotte. Violent acts sometimes result in sight of bloody injuries.

Profanity: About 20 uses of the F-word,1 probable use of "c--t"

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Some of the main villains (and even some heroes) are drug dealers.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: The van scene maybe disturbing to some viewers

Story: Matt Scudder is a former cop now a private eye. He is asked by a drug dealer to find the men who kidnapped his wife. It seems like they killed her even after he paid them. Scudder refuses. But the man later goes to see him and tells him how his wife was killed. Scudder takes the job. He does some research and thinks the men he is looking for have done this more than once. And that everyone they grabbed is connected to a drug dealer. He was about to give up when they grab another girl and Scudder tries make sure she's returned alive.

Likes : There seem to be a trend of the Neeson film's around just lately which can be a little boring at time seeing the same actor play the same roles, for the most part he is plays some grizzled, world weary, growling bad a** with a checkered past. exempts movies like "The A-Team", "Clash/Wrath of the Titans", and ugh...."Battleship".....dear lord that wasn't a bad film but not the greatest film around....although it is always nice to see Rihanna trying to be a bad a**!".   you get the picture. As for the examples of slightly less awesome Neeson bad a** movies, these are the ones like "Unknown" which lets be honest was way to slow, and some may even say "Non-Stop" but its actually an intense & entertaining film to watch.
"A Walk Among the Tombstones" falls into this category. Many will go into this movie looking to see Neeson take out the bad guys left, right & centre may be sorrily disappointed as this isnt one of those movies. "Tombstones" is more about the detective story and the darkness that the characters descend into. As the film progresses. Neeson plays Matt Scudder, a retired cop/alcoholic turned P.I. after a case 8 years ago that left him emotionally and psychologically scarred from an event.
He is brought to meet drug dealer (excuse me, "trafficker") Kenny Kristo (worse drug kingpin name ever?) who wants to hire him to find the two men who kidnapped and murdered his wife despite paying them the money they asked for.
The pace of the film is questionable along with a spunky, homeless kid T.J, fish around for clues. Their relationship is interesting at first because it's unclear as to why Scudder continues to come into contact with this kid besides the fact that perhaps by helping this kid, he can make up for a lot of sins he has committed in his past.
Neeson is almost in every scene and his presence alone keeps you engaged in every step he takes which keep the story interesting. As you get closer and closer to the truth the film gets more disturbing which some scene maybe disturbing for some viewers.
The film is unnerving for sure and is a mental disturbance more than anything special some scene can be very disturbing.
Even though it may not be as action packed as some of Neesons' past films with this dark nature like (The Grey) but it may be a pleasant surprise for other reasons. One of Americas guilty pleasures is loving serial killers (Dexter, The Killing, Hannibal, films and series, Se7en, etc.) so people may actually enjoy the film but for a completely different reason then they previously thought. Although this film is without its flaws.

Dislikes : One problem with this film is because of the lack of action in it the pace of the film is two slow it lets the film down as you find yourself get bored of watching it dispute, the usual neeson scenes being in the film which only slightly make it more interesting, you just kind of found the story concept a little bland.

Overall : Not a bad film, just to slow, great acting & little dark & disturbing

Rating: 4.1 out of 5 for entertainment / 6.1 out of 10 for storyline / concept

Film Review: The Hunted

Genre: Horror Thriller

Cert: 15 cert

Director: Josh Stewart

Screen writer: Josh Stewart

Starring: Josh Stewart , Skipp Sudduth , Katherine Von Till , Ronnie Gene Blevins , Nikki Deloach , Brett Forbes , Jessi Blue Gormezano , Patrick Rizzotti , Jim Stallings

Running time: 89 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: A husband and wife kiss and have a playful conversation, nothing obscene.

Two male friends recall a mildly dirty story about one of the men and a past conquest.
Violence & Gore: None

Profanity:  One use of the "f" word, several uses of other mild profanities.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:Characters drink beer in a hunting lodge. Some are seen smoking cigarettes.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Some scene maybe disturbing on a physiological level

Story: Chasing their dream of landing their own hunting show, two hunters head into the dense, secluded mountains of West Virginia only to realize they are not alone.

Likes : One thing about this film is it very Blair witch project style of filming, which is not a bad effort from Josh Stewart first directing debue which he also stars in.The film dose start off slow with them on a hunting trip trying to make a video for a show with the normal hunting, until things start to go weirdly wrong.
This is where this film take on this some what scary feel in a psychological way which is clever in some ways because this film dose have its moments that make you jump, where other areas just give you the chill's, so it not a bad film when it come to a psychological feel.
The premise of the film, with two hunters alone in the woods when things start to go awry. The reasons for being out there make sense which give the audience a real feel for the film, and it also makes sense why they would continue to push forward even with the strange goings on which at some point get a little creepy.
They are trying to film a hunting show and need to get the footage of the hunt completed in order to secure their TV deal, so everything is on the line for them which show so this good a concept to the film. The acting was very good; both Josh and Skipp do a great job with their characters. You can tell this is something they were very excited about doing and their heart's were into it, unlike most film of the genre this felt very natural and believable which is good for a found footage film although their is a few flaw's that could of made this a little more better, but this is not a bad first directing for josh.

Dislikes : Number one rule of found footage film never put music in it, it complete ruins the atmosphere of the film, sadly this did have a bit of music, which ruin the found footage concept. The other thing as well the fact nothing started to happen until just over half the film, leaving no much scary moments, although there was a few, this should of had a bit more.

Overall : Some scary moment, Not a bad effort for first time directing, worth the watch once.

Rating: 3.2 out of 5 for entertainment / 5.6 out of 10 for concept / story

Film Review: The Equalizer

Genre: Action Crime Thriller

Cert: Cinema gave this a 15 cert, this is a straight up R-rated film

Starring: Denzel Washington , Marton Csokas , Chloë Grace Moretz , David Harbour , Haley Bennett , Bill Pullman , Melissa Leo , David Meunier , Johnny Skourtis , Alex Veadov , Vladimir Kulich , E. Roger Mitchell , James Wilcox , Mike O'Dea ,  Anastasia Sanidopoulos Mousis

Running time: 131 min
Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.
Sex & Nudity: Some small sexual references/ infrequent use of sexual language

Violence & Gore: The violence is not extreme as Rambo but it is fairly strong like Lone Survivor. This movie is by the same director as the movies Olympus Has Fallen and Training Day, so you should know what to expect if you've seen these.

A pole saw is put through a man's cheek

A man is electrocuted

Many bloody beat downs

A corkscrew is put through a man's mouth

A man is shot several times with a nail gun

A man's throat is slit

A man is shot in the neck, blood spatters

A man is hung by barbed wire

A man drills a whole in the back of another man's head

Profanity:  Close to 35 F words, on par with Olympus and less than Lone Survivor. Other small obscenities are also sometimes used.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Some drinking and smoking. Nothing to worry about.

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  The R rating is mainly for the violence and some uses of language, but it is less than other movies.
Very graphic violence scattered throughout

Story: In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by - he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

Likes : For some of us that grow in the 80s - 90s will know the old Equalizer series starring Edward Woodward as a ordinary man turn vigilante to help people like an enforce, This is a film that re-imagine of this series in to a film with outstanding promises.
From the trailer this film was sold for me i went in with high expectation & its delivered with a big bang, this truly is how good film should be done. The story is a little slow at first but what good about this is it introduce you to Denzel Washington character at a stead pace so you get to understand Robert McCall & he's is, from what he can do, is just amazing, his character you find a little mysterious as you see him doing thing's by the clock, but its also the action scene which are brilliant choreographed, what's clever is you notice that his character has some military back ground, from what you see i gathered his someone like (Liam nesson Character from taken but better i would go as far to say an special ops enforcer).
Chloë Grace Moretz Looking beautiful as ever is kind of a cameo role for the film, but you can tell from the start when you met her character Teri you can see straight off the bat she going to be the catalyst for the action to start man did it start, the action in this film is why this film should of been give a R-rate than a 15 cert because the fight scene were brutal, bloody & fast, which gave this film its edge as there are scene that will make you seat back in shock.
There is a seen which might be a bit confusing to some people with a CIA, FBI government official which is pretty clear if you understand what she is saying, which made it clear that Robert is a Covert Soldier, what was being said between this two is that Robert past made a promise to not get back in to the life he was in before but because he had no choice the fact the government couldn't touch the Russian Mafia, she gave him both permission to take them out as well as permission to break the promise this is the meaning of this scene.
This is a highly recommended film to watch at the cinema as this is a well choreograph & action pack film that not only blood & violent, but has a very power explosive concept that is how an action film should be.

Dislikes :Nothing wrong with this film

Overall : Action pack, Brilliant choreographed scene, brilliant acting, Denzel is phenomenal

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 10 out of 10 for concept / action

Running time: 90 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Number of sex scene, & naked woman show all through most of the film

Violence & Gore: Fight scene, bloody guys being shot

Profanity:  very strong language

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: drinking & drug are seen in this film

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Basic gangster type film nothing frightening, tho some scene my be disturb for some views

Story: John Falcon did 10 years of hard time in prison. Now he's got 24 hours to get revenge on every person who had a hand in sending him there.

Likes : I've never really been a fan of the American thug gangster type film, which this one is, i'l be honest not the greatest of film's, some of the action is ok, the plot the story is pretty much straight forward with a revenge concept, but a very low budget filming. Some of the fight scene are pretty much ordinary, could i say this was a good film sadly no.

Dislikes : Sometime a low budget film can be good but this sadly wasn't one of them, the budget is very low due to the lack of acting skill's very amateur acting & very wooden in place, which didn't help the the film at all, this may appeal to some people but this is a recommended avoid film if you not in to the bad acting film's

Overall : This is a once watch film, not really worth buying depending on you taste

Rating: 2 out of 5 for entertainment / 4 out of 10 for story / acting

Film Review: Postmen Pat: The Movie

Genre: Animation Comedy Family

Cert: U cert

Director: Mike Disa

Screen writer: Annika Bluhm, Nicole Dubuc , Kim Fuller

Starring: Jim Broadbent , Jane Carr, Robin Atkin Downes , Susan Duerden , Greg Ellis , Rupert Grint , Dan Hildebrand , Ronan Keating , Stephen Mangan , Parminder Nagra , T.J. Ramini , Enn Reitel, Darren Richardson,  Julian Stone, Sandra Teles, David Tennant, Peter Woodward

Running time: 88 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: None

Violence & Gore: None

Profanity: None

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: none

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Robot eye being red might frightening children under 5

Story: A veteran postman finds his beliefs challenged after he enters a TV talent show competition.

Likes : Postman Pat has always a family favourite for kids which they are still all have fondness for when it was on tv. This was always going to be a film that would go either way, the amount of talent on board, my general love for family films and for Postman Pat could have suggested that the film would be fun and charming
The film dose have its moments The film begins very promisingly with a very idyllic opening that was the closest the Tv show, they add the few Big Time song which is great with some very funny visual gags, the montage where Pat meets his wife for the first time was very touching and the "Faster Pussy-Bot, Kill Kill!" seemed like a Daleks reference which it was in this case a clever one at that.
The soundtrack is catchy and bring energy to the film and the voice cast are good and very enthusiastic, David Tennant sounds like he's having a whale of a time but Steven Mangan, who's very sympathetic and dead-on as Pat, and Jim Broadbent acquit themselves very well too.
This is an ok film for children but beware some scene seem to be a little too frightening i would say for under , for a U cert this was a little odd.so this may appeal to some kids & family but not all will like this.

Dislikes : I can see why this final in the cinema really because at best its a DVD release, it dose try it best to be like the original tv series but, where they failed that made the story line in to some x factor concept with pat sing for something, this just its the concept of postmen pat at all this is why this failed to appeal to some many audiences.

Overall : Great music, great acting, just poor scripting lets this film down

Rating: 4 out of 5 for entertainment / 4 out of 10 for story concept.
