Film Review: Warcraft: The Beginning

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Cert: 12A

Director: Duncan Jones

Screen writer: Duncan Jones (screenplay) Charles Leavitt (screenplay) Chris Metzen (story and characters

Starring: Travis Fimmel ,   Paula Patton  , Ben Foster , Dominic Cooper , Toby Kebbell , Ben Schnetzer ,   Robert Kazinsky , Clancy Brown , Daniel Wu , Ruth Negga , Anna Galvin , Callum Keith Rennie , Burkely Duffield , Ryan Robbins , Dean Redman.

Running time:  2h 3min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & NudityNote: This is based on the video game series and lore

There will probably be some romance between Garona and Medivh
Violence & Gore: Note: This is based on the video game series and lore

There will be some PG-13/R fantasy action and violence, particularly toward the end, where the orcs fight the humans. A man will probably be stabbed by a woman, as in the lore.

Duncan Jones said he was aiming for a dark, PG-13 rating due to the violent content.

Epic battle sequences similar to those in Lord of the Rings should be expected. Decapitation, brutality and blood are to be expected

Profanity:  Note: This is based on the video game series and lore

In the video game series, there are uses of damn, hell, and ass, with occasional use of bitch. Because of the epic fantasy setting, the language should be similar to such of Lord of the Rings, but because of the source material, other profanities could be used, as described above

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Lots of people will probably be drinking in some scenes, due to the lore explaining that some races in the video game series drink.

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  Expected MPAA Rating: PG-13 for Epic Battle Scenes and Intense Fantasy Violence, and Some Disturbing Images

Story: The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people, and their home.

Likes : Im not gonna say this film is bad not by a long shot yes it has a flaw in it storytelling which i explain in dislikes, im kind of mixed with this film, i didn't walk away dispointed as this film was actually good if you can understand the film.

The visual effect are amazing  with the city's , magic & the orc characters & i understand a few scene gave nod to the game , because ive never played the game i would know the basic characters so im going off what ive seen of the film, ive see a few bad review & some good reviews, i think if you a fan of the game & you play the game you will understand this film better.

The acting is spot on not once did i feel the film lost its concept or what was going on, i loved the twist in the story it kind of had double side with the magic corruption thing going on which i fought was clever , the battle scene where well choreograph with the C.G.I green screen effects, when you see the magic being use in the film is awesome really set the tone of what the film is about.

There were alot of moment i this film that i felt emotional because you could really feel for Durotan character played by Toby Kebbell  trying to make sure his clan survival & you see a being of humanity in him then a fight orc that what to kill i like that because it gave the film purpose than just have humans fighting orcs.

The story itself if you can understand it from the start has a pretty solid & grounded story which helps the film as well, with a stead pace , The character Medivh was kind of a unusual casting choice Ben Foster but he actually made a convincing sorcerer but i cant really saying much more about without giving away spoilers as his character is apart of the story plot.

The Armour design with the blue & gold of the knights & Armour horse's were incredible done, special with the kinds Armour sliver & gold work well together really makes the film stand out. Ben Schnetzer  play the young sorcerer Khadgar pull off a brilliant performance although i feel the film could of use more magic from him.

Anduin Lothar played by Travis Fimmel was a brilliant performance you kind of didn't know what he was thinking half the time because he looked so angry all the time , the emotional scene he had in the film that seriously put a tear to me eye because you could his pain at that moment it was brilliant done in a way it gave the scene more emotional ground which gave the story a bit of a vengeance concept.

People compare this to lord of the rings, it not really a lord of the ring type of film, there is lot more too this story that what lord of the rings had which make it a interest film to watch, i really hope there will be a sequel because it kind of leave open story's to continue which is a good ending with a twist that give you the the emotion you want more. The griffin was the best part of this film such a bad ass way to fly in to battle on the back of a griffin brilliant effect of it look & design.

Its worth checking out dont listen to the bad reviews.

Dislikes : The only problem i see with the film is if that if you have never played the game or know the lure this film can be a little bit hard to understand as it doesn't give you much of a narrative back story to explain what going on your just thrown in to a world of orcs.

This can be a problem for those that have never played the game because without knowing the story this film will be hard to follow. i feel its a film more aim at the fans of Warcraft than the general audience, not to say i didn't understand the story i got a bit of what was going on but this really need to have some narrative at the begin so general audience could understand this film this is why i think this film had gotten bad reviews.

Overall : Great performance , Awesome visual effect, great battle scene with emotion scenes.

Film Review Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 2

Running time: 1h 52min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Main character dressing sexy.

Violence & Gore: Expect violent action through out the film

Profanity: Mild profanity

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Drug that changes people in to mutants

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Krang might be a little frightening for younger viewers so viewer discretion is advised

Story: The turtle are back and this time they have more than just shredder to contend with , a dimensional being called krang wants to rule the universe it up to the turtle along with help from Casey Jones to stop them before the earth is destroyed.

Likes : WOW the first film was great this one is better , they turn up the volume & cranged up the speed for this film has the comedy side & new characters make this film what it is, it alot of nobs to the original animated series of TMNT.

Director Dave Green has done amazing job here bring to life & put on the big screen
Rocksteady played but Stephen Farrelly & bebop played by Gary Anthony Williams who played these character with class , they were so very like their cartoon selfs its was unreal & funny at the same time, which will make the fans very happy when they see them on screen.

New Casey Jones wow Stephen Amell awesome performance as Casey jones with some awesome scene & funny moment when he met the turtles which even had me laughing, Stephen amell first time on the big screen he done it brilliantly well done man you are an awesome Casey Jones.

It looks as if they didn't use a voice over for Leonardo as they have gone with Pete Ploszek who i assume voice the character as well done amazing job with it , but this is where this film is actually funny the joke dont feel force is with Michelangelo aka mikey, he was so funny in this film it was unreal he was more of a comedian in this sequel then the first one which i actually liked really made the film entertaining & funny as hell.

The C.G.I is perfectly done although there were a few moments the film was a little out of focus with the animation, but this film is just amazing animation in the characters, along with Krang as well i love the style they didnt really change his look which i though they were gonna screw up but im pleased to stay they havent screwed his look up , he look just like his animation cartoon version in C,G.I voice brilliantly from Brad Garrett.

There are a few scene that might throw audience off there could be some bad reviews because of it, but i think they handles it pretty in the movie, to no over do it with the scenes when you watch the film your know what i mean.

But all in all this was a brilliant sequel to the first film worth checking out at the cinema.

Dislikes : My only complaint about the film was the character of krang i dont think he has enough screen time, i think he should of been in the film more than he was the scene feel more of a cameo then a main villain that the only flaw i see in this film.

Overall : Great sequel, funny as hell, new characters are brilliant done, story is solid.

Running time: 1hr 30min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Men with there tops off , few scene of nudity , couple kissing

Violence & Gore: This is a martial arts film so expect fighting to be brutal & fast

Profanity: R-rated language

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Scene of drinking from the main characters

Frightening/Intense Scenes: There are a few intense moments through out the film not nothing frightening

Story: Picking up after the events of Never Back Down 2 , former MMA champion Case Walker help out a friend who fighting a dangerous mma fight only to get involved in the situation , get involved in the fight to become champion once again.

Likes : Normal when it comes the third film of a franchise it can get a little mediocre , i can honest say this is not the case with this film , incredible directing from Michael jai white he has real vision when it come to this type of film.

The fight scene are well choreographed with some of the best fighting ive seen to date in these types of film , of course you always get one of those cock ass one in a film that think their the best which is funny because when you see the fight in this film lets just say he get his mouth shut.

I like the style of this film using MMA Fighting in a real arena give the film more solid grounded story than just some bullying theme, Michael jai white is at his best inn this film dispute his age he still got the bad ass attitude you mess you get put down hard.

I love the training scene this film remind of kick boxer & rocky in away just a mma feel with some awesome show tracks from Snowgoons ft Onyx - Do U Bac Down & Light 'Em Up - Vo Williams ft. Robin Loxley during the training it really adds to the scene get you pump for the fight to happen.

The acting is pretty well done as well pretty solid story complemented with great fight scene , although there are a few moment when the film is a little slow there are a few flaws i the film but as a whole this film is pretty good.

There are some funny moments special with a cameo of Tony Jaa , your like what the hell is he doing lol moments which you kind of gotta laugh at or your just find him weird , i love the fact this follow up from the last film although it a shame this didn't include any from the last film on a video flash back scene of what happen in the second film you dont see anyone from never back down 2 which is a shame.

But ya if you loved the first 2 film's your gonna love this one as it got great fighting , good train scenes with great music & a twist in the story that keep this interesting , gotta say brilliant directing from Michael.

Dislikes : There were a few scene that could have been given more purpose as they were they didn't really need to be in the film as it was mainly focused on the main characters of the film & not the side characters.

Overall : Brilliant fight scene , Good acting, good directing & solid story. Good twist.

Film Review: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

Genre:  Action, Drama, Thriller

Cert: 15

Director: Michael Bay

Screen writer: Chuck Hogan (screenplay),  Mitchell Zuckoff (book)

Starring: John Krasinski , James Badge Dale , Pablo Schreiber , David Denman , Dominic Fumusa , Max Martini , Alexia Barlier , David Costabile , Peyman Moaadi , Matt Letscher ,Toby Stephens

Running time:   2h 24min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Imagine of rabbits having sex

Violence & Gore: The film contains scenes of war violence throughout mainly involving exchange of fire where injuries with some bloodletting can be seen.

For example, during the militant's attack on the US consulate, scenes of violence are depicted with details such as brief spurting of blood as the two sides exchange fire with each other. Characters who are injured during the attacks are also covered in blood. Another man is cut in half by machine gun fire (brief but very visible).

Apart from the violence, there are also brief scenes of gore including a scene depicting the hands of a militant being blown off after setting off an explosive by accident. He walks around with part of his forearm and wrist detached from his body, spraying blood.

Other scenes include a soldier who is injured at his thighs being brought into a room for first aid, when he is laid down on the table, a fleeting shot of the gash can be seen, followed by some blood spurting from the wound.

Profanity:  The film contains utterances of strong expletives such as 'motherf**ker' and 'f**k'. [Approx. 40+ across its near 2 1/2 hour runtime]

Milder language such as the expletives 'sh*t', 'damn', 'b*tch' and 'hell' are also uttered by the characters during various conversations.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Alcohol & smoking is see by the main characters

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  This is an action-war drama revolving around the events leading up to an attack at a US diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, involving a group of ex-soldiers who are stationed there to protect CIA agents and later serve as the backup security team for the US ambassador, Christopher Stevens
Many dead bodies are shown with injury throughout the film, some are seen dying due to the bullet wounds themselves, as well as smoke inhalation. A prominent character's dead corpse is also thrown off a building.

The strong element of war violence in the film may prove quite distressing.

Official MPAA Rating: Rated R for strong combat violence throughout, bloody images, and language.

Story:
As an American ambassador is killed during an attack at a U.S. compound in Libya, a security team struggles to make sense out of the chaos, as the enemy attacks in waves, can they survive the on slaughter.

Likes : Right first of all if you vote for Hillary Clinton after watch this film you are iver blind or stupid because if you watch the count room video of her trail saying that she sent enough security forces & enough security for the compound was a lie , this was the direct result of her failure to not only secure the compound they were in with enough security barricades but also failure to give enough security team to hold off an attack as a result 4 men lost their lives as a direct result of her failure. If it wasnt for the brave men that were keeping the MI6 operative safe there would have been a lot more dead.

This was an incredible film based on the this very attack on Sept 11, 2012 event also called the "Battle of Benghazi saw several us marines against all odds holds off wave & wave of ISIS fighters trying to destroy the compound & kill the Americans in side.
This was a seriously intense, frightening & emotionally high driven film that will have you routing for this guy survival, bring you to tear by the end of the film because you emotions are just all  over the place.

The filming & cinema choreography is amazing with the gun battles as the chaos ascends on the compound normal people would just be in a panic, but not these men they stood fast & stood their ground these guys are heroes facing death in face & telling it not to day, today i live.
This is what this film feel like its just one of the best film ive watch this year incredible fire fights, outstanding acting from all the cast including John Krasinski who does an outstanding performance as a us marine, you see a few familiar faces as well, but you have to watch this film.

Few facts for you:

 1. The firing of mortars is an art and the mortar launcher has to be anchored to the ground or every mortar will land off target. The mortars landing on the CIA compound are dead accurate and also require spotters to assist with any corrections.

2. Aviano AB, Italy is about 2-hours away. Had they been launched, even if only to do a low fly-by, would have driven off the attackers; just like I used them in Iraq in Mosul, Tikrit, and Baghdad. I don't know why the Commander of the 555 (Triple Nickel) didn't launch. It's one of the big questions that remain unanswered by the media or the movie.

3. Hillary's statement that, "Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they'd go kill some Americans?" was a red herring. Because it was neither. As later testimony bore out, it was a planned, coordinated, terrorist attack on the anniversary of 9/11.

4. All UAS aircraft are armed. As stated in the movie could have assisted in the defense of the embassy or the CIA compound.

This was the biggest screw up in america history all because Hillary didn't do her job in securing the compound & get help to them.
As you can see from the film these men did the right thing to be honest i dont blame them for resigning from the CIA after the complete utter lack of security needed in a hostile zone.

But seriously watch this film its incredible true story.

Dislikes : There is nothing i can faultier about this film, the only thing im angry with is the fact this compound was said by Hillary in the courts after this incident that they were sent security measure to higher the walls put barb wire on the top of the wall, she when on to say she sent & made sure there was enough security force to secure the compound.......YES she lied because they had not back up, the security compound wasnt protected.

Overall : outstanding film, outstanding performances , brilliant action.

Film Review :The Call up

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi

Cert: 15

Director: Charles Barker

Screen writer: Charles Barker

Starring: Morfydd Clark , Chris Obi , Parker Sawyers , Max Deacon , Dino Fazzani , Tom Benedict Knight , Ali Cook , Greg Kolpakchi , Adriana Randall .

Running time:  1h 30min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: None

Violence & Gore: Combatant type film so expect bullet wounds & blood.

Profanity: Strong language

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: medic pack using a syringe

Frightening/Intense Scenes: some scene might be a little disturbing

Story: A group of online gamers are invited to try a state-of-the-art virtual reality video game but things take a turn for the sinister when these masters of the shoot 'em up discover they will literally be fighting for their lives.

Likes : I wouldn't go in to this film with high expectation or excepting Oscar winner performances from actors / actress as this is a IPF film , the premises of the film's story is not bad but could of been executed better but still not a bad film.

The film revolves around virtual reality where a group of unwilling people are invited to take part in something to win $10, 000 , what they think is amazing being inside a virtual reality sim like a call of duty game soon turns in to a nightmare when they realise if they get shoot they stay dead.

This film get interest as the only way out is to complete the game but being stuck in something you can die is no easy task special when you have a few bunch of ideas in the group, if you a gamer you can understand this.

Although some accepts of the film are good & the twist at the end is not bad it does have a few flaws which is a shame because these types of films special this story would have been better with a more construct story that is more solid.

Dislikes :  The base of the story is good but poorly executed this could of had a much big budget & made more gritter with a long story , the cast isn't to bad the acting is good but just let down by the lack of story action in the film.

I think with a high budget better story this film could of been one of those rare films to be brilliant but sadly lack the edge which is a shame.

Overall : Good acting, good visual effects, poorly executed story with a twist
Rating: 3.4 out of 5 for entertainment /  5.6 out of 10 for concept

Film Review: The Other Side of The Door

Genre: Horror

Cert: 15

Director: Johannes Roberts

Screen writer: Johannes Roberts,  Ernest Riera

Starring: Sarah Wayne Callies , Jeremy Sisto , Sofia Rosinsky , Logan Creran , Suchitra Pillai , Javier Botet , Shoa Hussain , Mishti Bangera

Running time: 1h 36min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: A couple passionately kiss, she takes her top off and they kiss. No nudity seen, very brief. Lasts about 10 seconds.

Violence & Gore: The film contains a sequence depicting a child being possessed and an exorcism attempted. The possessed child is implied to kill the family's pet dog before slashing her father in the abdomen where some bloodletting is seen. Following that, she is held down by some shamans for some time, with one of them aiming a knife at her. The scene ends when the spirit leaves the child's body and enters her mother's body.

Profanity:  Mild to strong

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: none

Frightening/Intense Scenes: This is a horror film revolving around a mother who struggles to come to terms with the death of her son . Unable to accept his death, she conducts an ancient ritual to say a final farewell to him. However, she botches the ritual and inadvertently opens the door between the worlds of the living and the dead.

There are several jump scenes throughout the film, mostly in the form of sudden appearances of apparitions with mildly disturbing features, such as empty eye sockets or rotten flesh.

Aside from these, there are portrayals of an otherworldly figure, which has disjointed limbs and a slightly ghastly appearance. This figure appears occasionally throughout the film, with some close shots of her broken fingers.

Official BBFC Rating: Rated 15 for strong supernatural threat, bloody violence

Story: A family lives an idyllic existence abroad until a tragic accident takes the life of their young son. The inconsolable mother learns of an ancient ritual that will bring him back to say a final goodbye. She travels to an ancient temple, where a door serves as a mysterious portal between two worlds. But when she disobeys a sacred warning to never open that door, she upsets the balance between life and death.

Likes : Im aware of some negative reviews toward this film i wouldn't say they are unwarranted as a few aspects of this film could of been better , but to say this film was really bad ?......not really because it has some good point to it as well.
It does start off a little slow with the story establishing itself  at a steady pace working toward the point this film starts to get interesting , as we see the main character have a tragic event thing start to get a little dark as they are told there is a place where she can speak with the dead but she must not open the door.

This is where thing start to get out of control as she does something stupid & unleashing a force of unspeakable evil. Could i say this is where this film get frightening no not really but it has it moments where it get a little unnerving & unsettling , yes there are a few jumps in this film but it does lack something that could of made it more frightening.

The acting is brilliant from Sarah Wayne Callies she give an amazing performance in horror film with a great presence of mother trying to come to term with her lost but also being confronted but a supernatural force it very believable in her acting which make this a very believable story.
The horror aspect of this film is good in a places its maintains the dark atmosphere keep it slightly creepy at times with it back ground story of the place it all started from.

One thing that actually give this film its edge & watchable approach with the character Maria's story of depression , its this desperation that gives the plot an emotional edge while the Hindu themes and symbolism make it unique for an American horror film to be slightly frightening & dark. The movie had a similar vibe to The Grudge in in some ways that it used another country's culture to create a disturbing atmosphere for its characters & bring to life this dark supernatural story.

The ending is actually unusual but not unique as this method of ending a story has been done before   but still pretty shocking ending as it doesn't end of a good note ,  It's not the best "American goes to a foreign country and s*** goes down" horror movie, but The Other Side of the Door is a decently some what slightly frightening supernatural movie with a great story.

Dislikes
: Here the thing with this movie that directors need to take note of if they are making a horror film too work , look at the way the horror master made film Clive barker, Stephen king , john carpenter how they made their film creepy & frightening.
I feel with restricting the horror to a 15 cert you not get the film's full potential to be truly frightening sadly this is where this film has the problem , because i see alot of missing opportunity that could of made this a truly frightening film, it does lack this unfortunately which is a shame because the film story is amazing but its just let down by it lack of psychological supernatural concept that this film could of had, but still it a great film but just lower you expectation for it your be fine.

Overall : Amazing story, slightly frightening little unnerving at time , does miss a few opportunity but good film
