Film Review: No Escape

Genre: Action, Thriller

Cert: 15 cert

Director: John Erick Dowdle

Screen writer: John Erick Dowdle, Drew Dowdle

Starring: Lake Bell ,  Pierce Brosnan , Sterling Jerins , Owen Wilson , Thanawut Ketsaro , Chatchawai Kamonsakpitak , Sahajak Boonthanakit , Tanapol Chuksrida , Nophand Boonyai , Kanarpat Phintiang , Jon Goldney , Duang Maidork , Suphornaphat Annie Jenselius , Barthélemy Son , Mikayla Friend

Running time: 103 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: There is an attempted rape, however there is no nudity and is stopped before it begins.

Violence & Gore: A woman is beaten and nearly raped (her clothes are torn). Many characters are shot, with blood splatters, bleeding wounds, and pools of blood. Children are thrown from a roof (with the intention of being caught). A man is beaten to death with a blunt object. Dead bodies are shown. A man commits suicide. An angry mob beats people with rocks, sticks. A helicopter crashes and explodes. Tank shells explode. A truck runs over three people. Much of the violence occurs in front of children

Profanity: Very occasional, sporadic uses of "fuck." Uses of other swear words throughout

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Characters drink in the beginning. Infrequent scenes of cigar smoking

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  The roof throwing scene is very intense as is other scenes.

The whole movie is a non-stop, frightening, white-knuckle ride.

Story: When Jack (Owen Wilson) finds an opportunity to move to Southeast Asia to head his water manufacturing company's new plant there, he immediately jumps at the opportunity and moves his family there. When they get there; they seem to be having problems, the electronics don't work and rarely any cars are seen in the streets. When he goes to the market the next morning, he finds himself caught in the middle of a violent rebellion headed by armed rebels executing foreigners. Jack must get back to the hotel and with the help of a mysterious British "tourist" (Pierce Brosnan), must get his family to the American Embassy in the midst of the chaos. But is there any escape?

Likes : This film is pretty intense when it come to story, it not a film for the faint of heart, stry is of a family that move to the east asia for a new start to build a water to help people. the father Jack Dwyer (wilson) ; a successful American engineer, with a wife Annie Dwyer (Bell) and two young daughters (Sterling Jerins and Claire Geare).
Thing seem fine until a civil war breaks out his family is caught in a desperate struggle for survival as he try to get this family to safety, at the American Embassy, only to find things are much worst as thing start to swirl out of control, they find help from a man named Hammond (Pierce Brosnan).
The action scene are extremely intense & very violent in places Owen Wilson dose a great performance in show a desperate father trying to save his family, these scene do get extremely intense at times.
The whole concept of the film really shows just how bad it gets, when civil war breaks out in a country its not a great place to be with a family. I'm surprised that this is the first time ive seen Owen doing a serious movie which happens when an actor does comedy for a while but he nailed it with a great performance.
This is a great film to watch very entertaining, intense & frightening concept of a family in a civil war trying escape to safety, so if your looking for a great film to watch this is one to watch.

Dislikes : the only flaw really is there is no explanation of why the war started in the first place, this is the only flaw in the film as the rest of of it pretty simple.

Overall : intense, frightening, survival film worth checking out.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for concept

Film Review: James Bond : Spectre

Genre: Action, Adventure, Thriller

Cert: 12A

DirectorSam Mendes

Screen writer: John Logan (screenplay), Neal Purvis (screenplay), Robert Wade (screenplay), Jez Butterworth (screenplay), Ian Fleming   ... (characters)

Starring: Monica Bellucci, Daniel Craig , Léa Seydoux , Christoph Waltz , Ralph Fiennes , Dave Bautista , Andrew Scott , Naomie Harris , Ben Whishaw , Stephanie Sigman , Neve Gachev , Rory Kinnear , Daniel Stisen , Jesper Christensen , Ruolan Zhang

Running time: 148 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Bond will have sex with at least one woman in the film. The scene wouldn't be graphic, but it may only be something implied, a few brief seconds, or a slightly longer love making scene.

Passionate kisses are likely to be seen with Bond and three other woman.

The opening sequence is likely to have silhouettes of naked women.

Violence & GoreExpect similar violence to Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall.

Profanity: Expect similar profanity to Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall.

There are a couple uses of 'shit', 'bastard' but no strong language.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:There are several scenes where Bond is seen drinking, none where he seems overly intoxicated.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Spectre, under the direction of Sam Mendes, appears to be darker thematically than other Bond films and would likely have jump scares.

The SPECTRE organisation itself would most likely have an upsetting tone and Waltz's character could be quite intimidating compared to previous Bond villains.

A character may become deformed during the film, which would most likely be disturbing and pushing the PG-13 criteria.

Story: A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia, the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE. Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh, the new head of the Centre of National Security, questions Bond's actions and challenges the relevance of MI6 led by M. Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny and Q to help him seek out Madeleine Swann, the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White, who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of the assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot. As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks

Likes : First of all im gonna have to give this a mixed review, as it has some good point but also bad point which is a same because this story has alot of familiar aspects in the bond universe.
The film dose start off pretty solid as we see bond walking through mexico city on the day of the day with a beautiful woman in toe, clear on the way to get a mission done.
'Spectre' will definitely appeal more to those who were fans of the original films in the franchise, most notably 'You Only Live Twice' whose inspiration brings back one of the famous villains to ever face Bond. Director Sam Mendes has since seemed to take a new direction on Craig's series of films and led away from the gritty, thriller aspect that 'Casino Royale' and 'Skyfall' had,  instead propelled the movie into a action spectacle,
full of beautifully orchestrated stunts, stunning cinematography and non-stop explosive action. The locations are stunning, the score is exhilarating and the cinematography from Hoyte Van Hoytema is dazzling. Léa Seydoux is incredible beautiful in this film give the bond franchise another beautiful bond girl with a great performance she pulls off the strong but vulnerable characters of a daughter of the former villain from casino royale.
Christoph Waltz playing the villain that once you here the name you will straight away recognise, he play a charismatic bond villain dose it well, along with Dave Bautista who done an awesome performance as the bond villain henchmen perfect role for him to play, he dose it well.
Daniel craig awesome performance as bond again, hopefully this is not his last film as he good as bond but we will see in the future weather he will return.
After Skyfall & casino royale,  Spectre has a lot to live up to and, while it doesn't quite reach the same heights as either Casino Royale or Skyfall, its enjoyable film to watch but fall short of a brilliant film.

Dislikes : Here the problem this film had when you continue a story based continuity from the other films the film tens to fall in to the trap of losing itself & becoming boring, not that spectre was boring but its was lacking the action that balances the film out.
Spectre feel to much like Quantum of Solace where the story is slow the lack of action make it feel off it story which is a shame because this is one of the pinnacle stories in the bond franchise, but because of the lack of action it make the film to over slow & slightly boring with the story when it could of had a bit more action to balance it out.Sadly this bond film was a little meh!!!!

Overall : Great story, brilliant casting, story let down but lack of action.

Rating: 4.3 out of 5 for entertainment / 6.7 out of 10 for pinnacle story of the franchise

Film Review: The Last Witch Hunter

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Cert: 12A should of been a 15 cert due to some content being very dark

Screen writer: Cory Goodman (written by) and Matt Sazama (written by) & Burk Sharpless

Starring: Vin Diesel , Rose Leslie , Elijah Wood , Ólafur Darri Ólafsson , Rena Owen , Julie Engelbrecht , Michael Caine , Joseph Gilgun, Isaach De Bankolé , Michael Halsey , Sloane Coombs , Lotte Verbeek , Dawn Olivieri , Inbar Lavi , Armani Jackson

Running time: 106 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: none

Violence & Gore: Some scene push the film over the certification it is given to a mature concept.

Profanity:  Mildly strong language

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: magical drugs are used in the film

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Parental guidance should be implied to this film as some scene throughout are very violent & frightenly intense  for someone at the age of 13, recommended age 15 & above

Story: The modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for centuries, including KAULDER, a valiant warrior who managed to slay the all-powerful QUEEN WITCH, decimating her followers in the process. In the moments right before her death, the QUEEN curses KAULDER with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Today KAULDER is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to KAULDER, the QUEEN WITCH is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human race.

Likes : First of all you gonna see alot of people putting this film down giving it bad ratings, well sadly these people have their own opinion on that. So im gonna give my honest opinion on this film, yes it not perfect pacing is a little off, but the film as a whole was fantastic miles better than seventh son film that was out a few months ago.
The film start off with a solid introduction into the dark age battling an ancient evil witch that has the power of the elements & earth were throw into a 10min scene of them hunt her down, here were introduced to the main character KAULDER (Vin Diesel) a valiant warrior on the hunt with other solider hunting this evil down.
This is what good about the film it dosent just throw you into a story leaving plot holes at the beginning not knowing why Kaulder became immortal, it actually explain this within the first 10mins of the film so it not only give you a background story it also give's the film something to work with as the story progress's.
Would i agree on this being a 12A no, because their are a few scene through this film that go above that certification, special some of the horror scene in the film from my own viewing this would be frightening for anyone under the age of 15 as they do tend to get extremely intense.
The acting is pretty solid as well, it well balance film although missing some emotional opportunity that could of been put in there but i feel this as because of the pacing of the film that drown that out, but the special effect where outstanding show a perfect horror theme on a extremely danger spirit of a witch that could destroy the world, this is a perfect concept of the way they have the witch looking like a elemental wrath  was a perfect look for the evil watch & completely sell the character.
I was surprise to see Michael Caine in this film although i feel his scene are cameo as they are short scene's throughout the film, as i feel Elijah Wood is on screen more, but both do a great job in selling the film.
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson was perfect cast choice to play the evil witch's Disciple Belial , he had the right look for this type of character, he come off on screen someone to actual fear, Rose Leslie (game of thrones) perfect cast choice for the female role to join Kaulder in the fight to save the world from evil, she done a perfect performance with her character really sell it on screen.
Along with its special effect, story concept & characters this is one of the best witch concept films to been see in a long while, that is worth watching that end in a climactic battle of light vs darkness that promises a unique franchise.

Dislikes : The only thing really that lets this film down but not full letting the film down is the pacing it tends to jump from an action to slow parts which make the film slight slow, i feel this film could of been a little faster while keep its story the way it was, i would have said this was a 10 out of 10 film, but the slowness pulls it down slightly but still a great film.

Overall : Great witch concept, perfect story, a little slow in pacing but a great film

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for story concept & visual effects

Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Horror

Cert: 15 cert, should of been given an 18 cert due to curtain scenes

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Screen writer: Guillermo del Toro, Matthew Robbins

Starring: Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain , Tom Hiddleston , Charlie Hunnam , Jim Beaver , Burn Gorman , Leslie Hope , Doug Jones , Jonathan Hyde , Bruce Gray , Emily Coutts , Alec Stockwell , Brigitte Robinson , Gillian Ferrier , Tamara Hope

Running time119 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: A newlywed couple is shown having sex. They kiss. The woman practically tears the clothes off of the man, and the audience can see bare backs, legs, and the man's butt. Also, worthy of noting, the man makes a beeline for the woman's lower body. Nothing is shown, however.

The main heroine is shown in the bathtub. Everything important is strategically submerged and not visible.

A man and a woman are physically intimate together, kissing and grasping at each other explicitly while partially clothed. This may be a little more jarring to some because it is a brother and a sister.

Incest is a pretty big plot point. It is revealed that a brother and sister have had an incestuous relationship since childhood

Violence & Gore: A man's head and face is repeatedly smashed into the side of a sink with very bloody results.

An autopsy shows a man's caved in face.

Images of ghosts appear with decaying skin and flesh

A ghost appears with a cleaver lodged in its forehead

A woman coughs up blood.

A man burns his hand on a machine.

A woman is shoved over a balcony, hitting her back against another balcony on her way to the ground.

A man is stabbed under his arm, and pulls the knife out with blood squirting from the wound.

A man is stabbed in his side.

A man is stabbed a few times in his chest, then stabbed in the face underneath his eye. He then pulls the knife out of his face slowly before dying

A woman is slashed in the face

A woman gets her fingers stabbed by a knife repeatedly.

A woman gets slashed by a cleaver

A woman gets hit in the face with a shovel, and then hit on the top of her head splitting her skull open which kills her

Profanity:  One use of the f word

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: No drugs, though Edith is given a draught repeatedly that causes her to be violently sick, to the point of coughing up blood. Alcohol consumption can be seen as guests drink it at a party. However, they are not drunk.

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  The images of decaying ghosts appearing throughout along with the many "jump scare" scenes can be frightening.

The last 20 minutes of the film contains most of the film's violence scenes, and they can be intense at times.
Some may find the theme of  to be disturbing

Story: Edith Cushing is running away from a family tragedy. She marries Thomas Sharpe, a mysterious stranger. She comes to live with him and his sister, Lady Lucille Sharpe. She starts to find out that the Sharpe's home is filled with ghosts

Likes : Crimson Peak" is set in the late 19th century, first in New York, then in rural England. Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) amazing performance as a young budding horror writer who's intelligence, beautiful, and strong willed nature, refusing to allow Victorian sensibilities dictate what she can and cannot do,which result in her butts heads with those around her.

Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) is an English aristocrat and inventor who is in New York seeking financial backing for his mechanized clay mining business back home captures the eyes of Edith. When tragedy strikes, Thomas marries Edith and brings her to his home, Allerdale Hall in Cumberland, where his sister Lucille Sharpe (Jessica Chastain) amazing performance is waiting. But as the story unfolds as Edith tries to fit into her new surroundings, she discovers that thing arnt quite like they seem & a horrible truth is revealed.

Guillermo del Toro directing in this film has this trade mark in his film that most of you are formilur  with as the visuals in "Crimson Peak" are beautiful dark reflecting the films story of horror & mystery. The sets are spectacular visions of beauty and decadence in decay with the building showing an old mansion setting the scene; costumes are intricately detailed perfect in showing the 19th century style of dressing; the lighting and over saturated colour bring depth and meaning; of course, the del Toro trademarks of insects and clockwork gracefully found their way into the story as well.

Could i say this film was frightening......sadly not which is a shame,  it dose try a little to hard to be frighting in place's but still manges to hold some what of an unsettling concept at time that give you a chill down you back, but the performance from all the cast is just amazing.
One thing you notice if you ever watched the series supernatural you will recognize Jim Beaver who played bobby, who's playing Edith father in this film with a great performance. plus Doug Jones which i didn't know until i look at the cast was the ghost of Edith mothers which i didn't find frightening but the special effect were pretty good.

It one of those film that has hammer horror written all over it, from the set being in the 19th century to the location of the house & just the look of the house from the inside, its got all this classic hammer horror concept to it. so if you a fan of hammer horror you love this film, but if your looking for a frightening film sadly this will disappoint you if your looking for that, but the film as a whole is beautiful done.

Dislikes : I feel the film could of been a bit more frightening, i was disappointed because from the trailer its show a frightening film but apoun viewing the film, its not that frightening at all, its was a little tame in that concept, which i feel it could of been more frightening, but still unsettling in other areas.

Overall : Great story telling, good special effects. not frightening but still unsettling toward the end.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 7.9 out of 10 for concept.

Film Review: Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

Cert: 12A

Director: Wes Ball

Screen writer: T.S. Nowlin (screenplay), James Dashner (novel)

Starring: Dylan O'Brien , Ki Hong Lee , Kaya Scodelario , Thomas Brodie-Sangster , Dexter Darden , Alexander Flores , Jacob Lofland , Rosa Salazar , Giancarlo Esposito , Patricia Clarkson , Aidan Gillen , Terry Dale Parks , Kathryn Smith-McGlynn , Lili Taylor , Barry Pepper

Running time: 132 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: During a scene, the main character Thomas (about seventeen) stares at a teenage girl (about seventeen) changing her blouse with her back facing the audience.

A scene showing a room filled with women wearing harem outfits: low-cut blouses, showing their bellies, and their pants are very thin and silky and the main character kisses two of those women.

Violence & Gore: For a Young Adult movie, there is quite a lot of violence which is shocking. Zombie-like creatures are shot at several times throughout the movie, many of them dying.

A teen boy is caught in between a door being pulled by zombies on one side and his friends on the other. He is bitten somewhere in the chaos, and you can very briefly see bloody marks his stomach. Afterwards, his entire body turns pale and he lifts up his shirt, showing his grey swollen stomach covered with a slimey substance, slightly disturbing. His face turns pale grey and he pukes up a strange red and blackish liquid. Later on, he is handed a gun, then the other people walk away when a gunshot is heard and his suicide is implied. One of the most disturbing/emotional scenes in the movie.

Two boys are struck by lightning.

People are shot by tazer-like guns, leaving them to collapse to the ground and tremble as their body begins to be electrocuted. This happens various times throughout the movie.

A woman is shot, showing some blood soaking her shirt.

During the climax of the movie, tons upon tons of people are shot and killed. There is nothing graphic and most of it is implied, mainly just hearing lots of gunshots and bodies dropping. Explosions of fire are set off while fights ensue during the chaos.

The zombies are shown quite a lot with full images of their faces being hard to notice as the fly by quickly. Blood covers some of their mouths and their faces look mangled.

A man is shown tied to a chair with a bloody swollen eye being beat up until he gives another man information.

Profanity:  The prior post did not accurately convey how much profanity is usd in thivie. First half of thereis persistent use of sh** at least 35 times. Multiple uses of he**. Three uses of son of a bi***. Two bas****.

3 Exclamations (Shut up).

One obscene gesture (giving someone the finger).

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:Two teens are bribed into drinking an alcohol of some sort. They experience hallucinations and their vision blurs slightly.

One of the teens, a male, sees visions of his friends turned into zombies with horrific pale, grey faces and grievers in front of him from the first movie

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  The Scorch houses thousands of zombie-like creatures named 'Cranks.' These are formed by getting bitten by another Crank which leads to people turning grey and pale, making weird disturbing noises.

The Cranks appear frequently throughout the movie, especially in dark rooms and areas. They often appear as jump scares which may frighten younger viewers. The Cranks themselves groan and scramble towards humans, desperately trying to savage them. Their appearance is quite horrific with some of them having small bits of blood in their mouths.

Cranks often appear in chase sequences which are really intense.

There is a lot of violence in this movie, more than a usual Young Adult film. People are attacked by Cranks, shot at and killed. There is certainly more death and violence in this movie than the first one.

Please be careful about letting young viewers watch this movie as it definitely pushes the 'Young Adult' theme. In some ways, it's like a Young Adult horror movie, featuring disturbing imagery and implied violence.

Story: In this next chapter of the epic "Maze Runner" saga, Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD's vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all

Likes : i went in to this film with low expectation after the first film, wasn't a big fan of it as it was explained very well why they were in the maze in in the first place. But this sequel actually caught my attention better with a very intense fast pace action scene, with a back ground story of what is actually going on but still leave's a question of what has turn people in t what i would call mutant zombie like creatures that move very fast.
This film is is incredibly intense and action-packed that you won't want to look away for a moment as it keep the audience hook to the screen. Also, there's a single scene about 35 minutes into the movie that shocked me. It wasn't meant to be a plot twist, but the way they pulled it off was incredible as it reveal what is actually going but not revealing to much.
Unlike the first film there is a betrayal that will shock you from an unlikely character from the first film which just add's the ending, which leaves you thinking that you just sign your own death for betraying them.
Cinematography is amazing show a world is total destruction like some apocalyptic event happen which is slightly revealed in this film, along with it scary moments there are a few jump moments that really do make you jump out of you skin.
As ive said ive never read the book so i can comment on the film from that point of view but this sequel was far better than the first film IMO, im actually looking forward to the third instalment from this franchise.

Dislikes : Some places can be a little predictable, but a better story than the first film, although still leave leaves questions

Overall : Intense & scary moments, more compelling story than the first film.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for storyline

Genre:  Adventure, Drama, Sci - fi

Cert: 12A

Director: Ridley Scott

Screen writer: Drew Goddard (screenplay), Andy Weir (book)

Running time: 141 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & NudityFull rear male nudity of main character after taking a shower. He has a towel on his shoulders.

Violence & Gore: There is a scene with an injury and some blood as well as shrapnel. There is a graphic scene where a man pulls shrapnel out of a wound in his stomach and uses a medical stapler to close the wound. The sight will make some people cringe

Profanity4 uses of "f*ck," two mouthed without sound. Several times it was alluded to as "the 'f' word," or written as "f---ing."

Several uses of the 's' word and "damn."

The main character jokes about using his own feces as manure to grow vegetables.

Alcohol/Drugs/SmokingThere is one instance of Vicodin use. He uses it as a topping for his potatoes

Frightening/Intense ScenesThe film is intense in the last half of the film but the tone is not too dark due to the optimistic and sarcastic personality of Mark Watney, who eventually shows his vulnerable side. The entire theme of the film is disaster-related peril, including a sandstorm, potential starvation, suffocation, and hypothermia.

Official MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some strong language, injury images, and brief nudity.

Story: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring "the Martian" home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return. Based on a best-selling novel.

Likes : First of all i want to mention to all those that keep pairing the books to films stop, a movie isn't a book they are two different media outlet altogether, its hard to put a book into a 2 an half hour film, seriously stop comparing the two.
All the director can do is get the story in the film close to the book because a book is illustrated different media type this is why its hard to put a book in to a film, seriously please learn the difference & stop judging a film just by its book & enjoy the film for what it is.

OK enough ranting about that on about the film, DAM !!!!!!! sci-fi is seriously make a big come back in cinema's first we get interstellar from Chris Nolan & now we get a fantastic film from Ridley Scott with a man fought to be dead & left on Mars manges to survives it become a rescue atemp to save him.
The actual real science that has gone in to this film is outstanding, ya there a few moments where your question where certain bit can be possible there are a few moments that are pure sci-fi, but most of the film is pure science which give a realistic film concept which is brilliant done.
Brilliant performance from all the cast special Jessica Chastain im actually start to like her as an actress she bring a emotional side to the film as her character feel guilty its perfectly shown in her performance. The main star of the film Matt Damon who im not normal a fan of but the incredible performance in this film from him is just an outstanding Oscar winning performance, show the emotional & intelligence of what he characters is portraying coming to term with being stuck on mar & think of way to survive until he get rescued.
The cinematography & special effect are just awesome giving the audience this Perfect sci-fi concept to really bring this film to life so we can actually believe that what is happen is really happening without look fake.
The art work in the C.G.I for the Mars enivorment is just outstanding as well as the space station transport used to get from earth to Mars, alot of work & story writing has gone in to this to bring what is the second brilliant sci-fi story that is so compelling to watch as well as the odd funny moments that break up the doom & gloom this film give off this is one sci-fi film not to be missed.

Dislikes : The only flaw really is at the being, you down really get enough to time to introduce the other characters as the film is throw straight away in to this disaster theme before the main story of the film starts. I feel here there could of been a bit long to introduce the other characters & get to know matt character better before what happens, but apart from that the rest of the film is fantastic

Overall : Compelling, emotional & humorous at times, a film not to be missed.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 10 out of 10 for sci-fi concept.

Film Review: A Christmas horror story

Genre: Horror

Cert: 18 cert

Director: Grant Harvey , Steven Hoban , Brett Sullivan

Screen writerJason Filiatrault (uncredited) . James Kee , Sarah Larsen, Doug Taylor , Pascal Trottier

Starring: George Buza , Percy Hynes White , Oluniké Adeliyi , Rob Archer , Jeff Clarke , Jessica Clement , Corinne Conley , Robert Coughler , Zoé De Grand Maison , Amy Forsyth , Glen Gaston , Ken Hall , Adrian Holmes , Shannon Kook , Debra McCabe.

Running time: 99 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Kiss couple, Young girl & boy having sex no nudity involved

Violence & Gore: Graphic scenes of a murder, few scene of bloody graphic action through out the film, woman hold a baby covered in blood.

Profanity: Very strong adult language

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Alcohol is seen being drunk

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Some scenes maybe a little disturbing as children are involved in horror scene.

Story: High school students investigate a mysterious homicide that occurred the prior holiday season, a couple notices their young son is acting strangely after a snowy forest trip to cut down a traditional tree and one family are stalked through a winter wonderland by Krampus, the Xmas demon. Meanwhile at the North Pole, Santa is fending off zombie elves.

Likes : Everyone know's the fable story of Christmas's darker side as Santa Claus's evil brother Krampus a horned demon, anthropomorphic figure. According to traditional narratives around the figure, Krampus punishes children during the Christmas season who had misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas, who rewards well-behaved ones with gifts.
Now this film set it self up with three story's, kind of like trick r treat Halloween movie with different fable story's happening in one night, the Santa (George Buza) and Krampus (Rob Archer) scenes were absolutely awesome, it mostly make you wish that your watching a whole movie that was strictly about them although this film is a little cheesy in places with funny Christmas one-liners.
The acting was well done throughout, and the special effects/gore was all top notch considering they didn't have a huge budget. Plus William Shatner is thrown into the mix as a radio host station its kind of hard to not like this film .
The atmosphere & the way they have the Christmas music with this dark ominous way really set the tone for this film story's, ya some of the story's are good but sadly its it not with out its flaws.
What got me interest in this film from the trailer was seeing Santa fighting a demon which i thought was pretty cool, as its something we haven't seen before but as for the rest of the film the other story feel disappointing in a way which i will explain in dislikes which is a shame really.

Dislikes : The problem here with this film is the classic to many cooks in the kitchen, the only good scene really are the ones with Santa Claus & the demon, as for the others the director or screener writers screw this film up.
Here why ; each story should have been keep in line with each other like creep show, showing the full set of the each other story's, instead they mixed up the story's you see story's line simultaneously throughout jump back & forth this was the mistake for this film as it ruined the flow of the film.
The Santa Claus & krampus story was easy to follow but the other two story were full of plot holes & you couldn't really understand what was going other than what was being shown, i feel there should be been a bit more to this story so they were understood better.
I feel this film instead of being 3 stories should have been one long story it would have worked better, so in a way its a good effort but sadly a disappointing film that could have been better done.

Overall : Fair effort for a Christmas horror story but a little bit disappointing.

Story: In a continuation of the story line from the 2010 film, Jennifer returns working for a Crisis Hotline, where a serial killer is using the hotline to target rapists. Jennifer's dark past sends detectives in her direction, but is she the killer they are looking for?

Likes : First of all this is not gonna be a film for everyone; as it touch on a very touchy subject of rap & child-molesting which i absolutely detest & think its disgusting for anyone to do a barbaric act of cowardness toward anyone as no one deserver that happening to them.
As for this film i know what your all thinking the same old story where she gonna get rapped again like the first film to gonna go after them , but not this time. The story set a few years after the event that changed Jennifer (Sarah Butler) life as she come to terms with what happened to her, but something inside has changed.
The incidents that change her life took away everything human in her & gave this alpha predator side with a psychopathic nature, instead of being the victim this time she goes after those who rap people, this is where this film start to take on a more vicious dark blood nature as the predator become the victim of her vengeance.
If you haven't seen the first film i recommend watch that before this film as it dose continue where this first film left from, even those the squeal to this trilogy was some one one else life, The scene can be a little disturb, but be warned there are scene that tend to get a lot bloody & nasty although not as much as the first film but still disturbing.
Apoun watching this there was a few times ive had to look away because some of it was really evil, not that they didn't deserve it as their character were pretty nasty sick people, but please everyone let not take the law into our own hands even those most of us would love to do what she dose in this film to predators.
Compare the two film, ya the first film was better although extremely sick & twisted, but this follow up story isn't to bad as it dose follow the story line which works for the film to give it continuation, but i love the way they turn her character around from this sweet caring person to this psychopath woman on the revenge path. This is a film i would recommend watching if you not so easily offended

Dislikes : I think there could of been scene of her get revenge, as the group she was in lot has happened to a few others, i think there was a lot of missed opportunity there, it felt to light of the revenge path for those who were victim's of nasty people.

Overall : Pretty disturbing & violent & bloody, not as good as the first film but still watch able.
