Story: Based on the popular video game Dead Rising where a group of people have to survive a zombie out break & stay alive long enough to escape the on coming firestorm bombing of the city. One problem stand in there way I group of gang warriors & horded of flesh eating zombie.

Likes : I've always wonder weather this game will get an adaptation in film & here it is, in all its cheesy glory, Sony's Crackle, all streaming online, on-demand in conjunction with Legendary pictures offer an adaptation of Dead Rising Capcom's best selling video game but I will admit not as bad as I though it would be but could of been so better than what is offend here. The story is pretty basic & easy to follow other then a few plot hole & flaws it not a great film, but an ok film that slightly fun & funny to watch.
Some of the acting is questionable at time but it not a film you can take seriously with its cheesy one liners & acting in places, but this film dose offer the usual horror moment's with a axe wielding zombie clown which will scare though that fear clowns to a few zombie moments. No film like this is with the extra enemy in the form of a motor cycle gang which has been feature in the original game but they were escaped convicts I believe.
Rob Riggle playing the character of Frank West which was the character from the first game, not really the choice of actor I would of pick for the role since the character in the game is pretty serious , but I'm guessing they didn't want to take this film to seriously so Rob was a good choice in keep it with the light humour.
Keegan Connor Tracy done pretty well as the camera reporter, her acting was pretty much spot on & believable, I believe this is her 4th horror film since final destination 2 as she been in a lot of TV movies, she didn't do to bad in this film. Meghan Ory is looking pretty gorgeous in this film playing the tough girl act, her acting is spot on as well, for  cheesy film, along with co-star Jesse Metcalfe (star of john tucker must die) playing the reporter hero type of the of the film, which is not bad acting but they could of made him a little more tougher though it felt like his character was held back a bit.
The somewhat action scene are well done, although I think this film could have done with a lot more, story script is ok as well I think this the way it is could have been better a series, more than a film but it not to bad.  It's main issue by default and through no fault of its it own nor Lipovsky's or writer/producer Tim Carter it's all been done before. The game also apparently had a liable suit brought against it in 2008 for its similarities to Dawn of the Dead '78 and 2004. Nevertheless, if Dead Rising had been released in 2006 the same year of the game release it may have faired a little better as while it is a good production, just feels like it's covering old ground, zombies in general are not as fresh as they used to be its a very over used genre.
The movie dose have some throw back in game moments where you see the weapon being made like you do in the game & their is a scene where you see the main character put a traffic cone on one of the zombie heads & you see the famous Lego head helmet which bring back memory of the game but that about all really that .

Dislikes : The one plot hole in the film is there is no explanation of where the virus came from or why there was a virus out break in the first place, the story seem to follow the 2 second game other than the first game leaving unanswered of what happen in the first place if you have never played the game.
I feel as if this film should have been based on the first game rather than the second game really. The one problem is the cut scene when it jumps from the news room back to the story then back to the news room which slow down & impedes in the flow of the film.
The other thing as well that make this a weak story that doesn't make this the best adaptation to the game, as in the game there are over 2000 to 3000 zombies on screen at a time, in the film there is hardly any around when there is its very few it leave the film unfrightening & less intense, it feels that their lives aren't really that in danger which soils the film concept, like I said you cant really take this film seriously has it cheesiness & one-liners make this more a comedy spoof  in places than a seriously zombie film. I feel This film could have been given a better story concept with a better budget, more zombie & cut out the cheesiness this could have been a spot on adaptation of the game but this is not a film you can take seriously as it a little short & lacking action.

Overall : Not a great film but a bad film its watchable although it could of been done better ,its not as bad as the trailer comes across but don't expect this to be a serious film.

Rating: 3.7 out of 5 for entertainment / 6.1 out of 10 for story adaptation from the game

A guy threaten another person with a gun. The person then succeed to take the gun. The guy gets hit in the face. Blood is seen coming from his nose.

Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships. Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so

Likes : Wow for a sequel this is a vast improvement from the first film which was good but had plot holes which thank god this one explains very well , which adds a fuller story this time to what is actually going but dose leave you with a burn question with the ending to find out what happens next.
Shailene Woodley is absolutely fantastic in this sequel showing a more emotional side to her character by showing feeling's that made her character more believable with the thing she had to endure, with Kate Winslet she done a great job with her character but i still cant find her character believable as a ruthless woman sometime the character come across a little wooden in place but she dose well in trying to bring the character forward a bit more.
The film its self has a Depth and complexity feel to it which is how I would describe this sequel, with more intense moment than the first film. Although this story is lot darker than the first film as their are curtain scene that will have you in shock as innocents and antagonists get killed without mercy.
The visual effect showing this to be a sci-fi film is just stunning & perfectly done, showing a more intense, darker but emotional story-line special with the ending where this film has a very powerful moment that brings tears to your eyes.
Not sure if it was the powerful message this was putting across or the powerful emotional music playing as well it just added for a great ending to a brilliant sequel that open's for the third installment with burning answers to what going to happen next. This is a must see if you've seen the first film as this truly is a vast improvement of the first film that answer a plot hole from the original.

Dislikes : Some of the acting is dose come off little wooden at times Shailene Woodley kind of carried this film really there is room for improvement though.

Overall : Fantastic film, great acting although some a little wooden, visual & story perfect, a must see.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8.6 out of 10 for concept

Genre: Horror

Cert: 18 cert (R-rated)

Director: Steve Wolsh

Screen writer: Steve Wolsh

Starring: Jaclyn Swedberg , Kane Hodder , Lauren Francesca , Stephanie Danielson , Gia Skova , Lachlan Buchanan , Leila Knight , Bryce Draper , Victoria Sophia , Laura Jacobs , Audra Van Hees , Matt Perfetuo , Puja Mohindra , Mike Perfetuo , Grant Alan Ouzts

Running time: 90 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Bunch of scene with naked woman full frontal view through out this film

Violence & Gore: Very strong bloody scene through out

Profanity:  strong language

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Drinking at a bar

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Some scene maybe disturbing for some viewers

Story: After narrowly escaping an ancient burial ground, long forgotten and buried underneath the marshes of Cape Cod, a group of friends emerge from the thick, marshy darkness, tattered and bloody, lucky to be alive. They have already lost two of their friends in the marsh, presumably dead. They stumble upon an empty Cape Cod vacation house alongside the foggy marsh and break in to take shelter. Whatever was in the marsh is still after them and soon after one of them goes for help, the rest of the group learns that the evil in the marsh is not the only thing that wants them dead. Something worse, something more savage, was lying in wait just outside the marsh, in the house. What happens next is unspeakable, horror that cannot be unseen. These unlucky travelers spend their St. Patrick's Day trapped between two evils forcing them to fight, die, or go back the way they came.

Likes : As a horror film this had potential if it was done right i say that some of this film has good points but sadly this film is not execute right on screen i feel sorry that such a legend like Kane hodder had to play in this trash i say that in a polite way.

Dislikes : When i say this film is just complete trash i mean it was so badly execute on screen it was unreal, in the plot story of this film it say narrowly escaping an ancient burial ground, long forgotten and buried underneath the marshes of Cape Cod, a group of friends emerge from the thick, marshy darkness, tattered and bloody, lucky to be alive.
One problem with this plot is the fact it wasn't show in the film for a build up to this event to give the story line for the film, its start out with them just turn up out of nowhere torn & beaten with no explanation what so ever.leaving you wondering what the hell is going on leaving a very poor & extremely weak story.
To be honest this felt like an excuse for a teen slasher flick with lashings of soft porn for an excuse to show naked woman in a horror film with no sub plot, no story, poor dialog with seriously bad acting worst than sharknado, which you really cant laugh at.
How this film ever made it past production level is beyond me because this was complete the worst pile of cr*p ive ever seen, some one need to tell the director Steve Wolsh to go back to film school & learn how to make a real horror film with a real story instead of a soft porn excuse to have naked woman in a film that has no story what so ever.

Overall : shockingly bad, no story, poor dialog, avoid watching this trash.

Rating: 2 out of 5 for entertainment / 1 out of 10 for story.

Sex & NudityThere is a brief scene of a naked woman taking a shower T-20:00-20:45. Buttocks are shown and a side view of a breast but no nipple is visible.

Violence & Gore:There are countless battling scenes both in space and on starships, however it is not disturbing, little or no blood is shown.

Profanity:  None

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Capitan Harlock and Mimay drink wine in a few scenes.

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  There are some dramatic scenes, but they are mostly intense from a psychological point of view, than from explicit seeing of violence.

Story: 2977: For many years a mighty battle has been raging across the galaxies as 500 billion humans, whose forebears were exiled from Earth, plan to return to what is still called home. All the while Captain Harlock and his crew will continue his mission, seeking revenge against the Coalition and establishing the return to Earth.

Likes : Well first of all i cant believe this animated film got so many bad reviews, like this was bad or something, ya there's a few flaws i noticed but this was a great film from start to finish. Like all animated film you need a good story line to keep the audience entertain that has this epic adventure feel to it like this one has, as well as the action & intense moments in battle.
The C.G.I cinematographic is amazingly done, The design it making the ship look like a pirate vessel is perfect i loved that they added the black smoke from the dark matter to give the ship this dreaded dreadnought feel like a ghost ship with the skull & cross bones on the front it kind of add to the effect of this ship to be feared.
Special when the ship hyper jumps with the cloud appearing first then you see the ship appear like a death ship from it that an awesome entrance for any ship.Voice over acting is brilliant done to give the characters in the film their own personality's. The character Captain Harlock embodies an ideal of freedom that we all seek, since we become adult well some of us. For all our attempts to act in full autonomy, we are seen as "different" and judged, often condemned.
This animated rendering portray this perfect ,i will say that this is a potential Digital Masterpiece for a animation film ,with a compelling and convincing story-line easy to follow. The job done by the creators is almost perfect. While there are a few plot holes that either weren't explained or weren't explained enough I think that overall it was balanced well enough to tell the story the director wanted to put across this is a film worth checking out if your into the the Japanese animation.

Dislikes : My only complaints really is that for a us version the jumping between Japanese speaking to English at some points which wasn't needed to be honest, yes there is a few plot holes the i did notice that the lip sinking was slightly a little off in places but forgivable, apart from that this film was well balanced & entertaining.

Overall : A mysterious vengeful captain. An epic galaxy spanning journey. A fearsome ship. Plenty of action. Family drama

Rating: 4.7 out of 5 for entertainment / 8.3 out of 10 for story / animation.

Violence & Gore: Few scene of blood, people killed off camera but you hear screaming, girl on fire

Profanity: Strong language

Frightening/Intense Scenes: None

Story: A group of people are invite to a remote castle for some sort of experiment but something about the few days them staying there dose add up, they soon discover the real reason & thing start to swirl out of control.

Likes : From the poster this film looked good on paper, but there is just nothing i can praise about this film other than the fact they did a pretty good job of the location for the film using Featherstone Castle as the location of this film.

Dislikes : Apoun viewing this film this could have been better done, the story-line is weak, the pace of the film is seriously bad i was starting to get bored, hardly anything happens for 50mins of the film which didn't help the story-line concept one little bit. The acting is questionable but some where ok, i will say this is not a film i will be watching again, ive never felt more bored with this film, normal low budget films are better than this but this is a film i would avoid unless your in to the indie independent films because this is a film i cant recommend for watching.

Overall : Weak story, you get bored to quickly, nothing is happening until they very end of the film, this is quite possible the worst film ive watched.

Rating: 2 out of 5 for entertainment / 3 out of 10 for concept / story

Story: The film set during the era of the Han Dynasty. Huo An (Chan), a hun, serves as a commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions of the Han Dynasty. They are tasked by the emperor to maintain stability between the warring 36 nations in the Silk Road region. Huo An and his subordinates are framed for smuggling gold and are sent to the Wild Geese Gate, a frontier town of the Han Dynasty and undergo forced labor. In the west, meanwhile, a Roman general named Lucius (Cusack) flees with his legion to the east. He smuggles Publius (Waite), heir of the Roman consul for the Parthian Empire to save him from death and a ploy by his older brother, Tiberius (Brody), who schemes to takeover the position as heir to the Consul seat for himself.

Likes : Every now & then you get a great film like this with a heartwarming story of loyalty, sacrifice, rising against the darkness against all odds and truly valuing what true friendship is that encompasses all nations and creeds that everyone will understand. The film's portray's the film for what it means to truly be a friend and a man who sticks by his principles.
Which Maybe it's why these's film's get so much flack & bad reviews, because our standards today have become so dulled that it's now a sin to be a person with principles & honor to act like a human. It seems sacrifice, loyalty and protecting the weak and innocent has been shelved aside in this rat race of ours in our modern world and has it praising selfishness, greed and ambition instead.
Story-wise this film is fantastic but some of you might find it some parts cheesy or predictable. Some of you might even say that the character Jackie Chan played (Huo An), was unbelievably too kind in naure, like he was just character from a fairytale. but if you look closer at the character & follow the story, try to delve into the character of Huo An, your see that every tragedy that has ever happened to him (told in the story), you will understand why he a man that just wants to bring peace to the nations rarer than war.
john Cusack performance as the role of Roman Empire general, Lucius was brilliant done to the point he actually played the role real good, in his performance you could a believe character on how it feels to be betrayed, to hate and to trust you can see why the character is who is in the film.
Adrien Brody as the villain Tiberius i was a little unsure about to honest it did feel force which was a good thing, also done a very performance but could of made the character a bit more ruthless for the character type he was playing but you could see the way he lust for power and ambitions which twisted the character to become a mad man hell bent to betray, kill, as already told in the trailer) his own family, his performance was ok.
Choreography side on the battle's & fight scene are perfectly done, specially the fight scene with Cusack & Jackie, cusack done a fantastic job at the sword fighting which made the scene more believeable as these two go head to head in a one on one fight, special with the spectacular battle scene this is a well Choreography film with some brilliant cinematography this is a film i would recommend watch.

Dislikes : Just think Adrien Brody character could of done with a more ruthless concept, there is a few plot hole but most of the film  pretty much explains itself really you just have to pay close attention to whats being said. The subtitles in this film to be honest i know they were trying to keep it real but the subtitles at times can be hard to read as they come up on screen to fast then off again before you get the chance to read whats going on it could do with English speaking version although although of the scene were in English there was a few scene of subtitles needed it sometime hard to follow the film that way.

Overall : Awesome Choreography, great fight scene, brilliant story of Story about Friendship, Loyalty and Sacrifice.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for story concept

Film Review: Chappie

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

Cert: 15 cert

DirectorNeill Blomkamp

Screen writer: Neill Blomkamp, Terri Tatchell

Starring: Sharlto Copley , Dev Patel , Ninja , Yo-Landi Visser , Jose Pablo Cantillo , Hugh Jackman , Sigourney Weaver , Brandon Auret , Johnny Selema , Anderson Cooper , Maurice Carpede , Jason Cope , Kevin Otto , Chris Shields .

Running time: 120 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & NudityMild sexual references. nothing explicit

Violence & Gore: The start had gun scenes. On more than one occasion the gun is put in someone's mouth and they treaten to shoot him. Violent scenes where people are hit on the temple and threatened with being killed.

Profanity:  The movie contained 1 use of fuck, 5 uses of shit and 3 uses of damn. Some racial words are briefly used

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Men are seen drinking on occasion

Frightening/Intense Scenes: The entire movie can be frightening to young children. Especially the gunfights.

Story: In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. As powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

Likes : The critic once again trying to make out this film is a fail copy cat of Elysium have got this film so wrong, this was in a league of it own, specially when it comes to artificial intelligence this film stands out not only a brilliant emotional way but in funny laugh out loud funny way that short circuit use to be.
If i could compare this film to any film, i would say this is a mixture of of a few sci-fi films like short circuit, robo cop, terminator & the a live action version of Appleseed Alpha in some way which is brilliant as you start to love the character of chappie it dose at time get emotional in place's which make this not just a action sci-fi but with dark emotional look at the way life is when it can be cruel.
The character of chappie is brilliant showing a child like A.I machine trying to learn how the world works kind of like the old short circuit film with johnny number 5, it had that same concept which remakes this film great.
Yes some parts of this you can compare to Elysium with the gangs fighting over the city, trying to make a living What is great about the movie is its style with Yolandi and Ninja (the main characters part of the musical group Die Antwoord) did a brilliant acting job in this film play the gang land gangsta group.
Hugh Jackman is pretty hilarious & playing a pretty nasty piece of work as a bloodthirsty war vet, he really sale his role on screen which make me think that if they were to do a film of metal gear solid i believe we have found the perfect actor to play snake as huge jackman would be awesome for.. The technology in this movie is fantastic, as usual coming from Blomkamp, leaving plenty of ideas for the imagination to wonder about for the future as it show a pretty futuristic concept of transferring a human consciousness in to robot is brilliant show in this film.
Chappie is a funny, entertaining, and surprisingly sentimental movie that will go down in film history along with the over robot concept movies along with the C.G.I animation that is absolutely fantastic in this film not only bring chappie to life but also the over robot as well, this film really deserved more than the bad reviews it got as this is a great film.

Dislikes : It can be a little slow in pace which slightly under minds the film flow, the action scene were good but there just wasn't enough of them but still a great concept film.

Overall : Almost a live action version Appleseed Alpha, great characters, chappie is awesome.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 7.9 out of 10 for concept.

Story: A team of U.S. archaeologists unearths an ancient pyramid buried deep beneath the Egyptian desert. As they search the pyramid's depths, they become hopelessly lost in its dark and endless catacombs. Searching for a way out, they become desperate to seek daylight again. They come to realize they aren't just trapped, they are being hunted.

Likes : I'm actual in pressed with this film, im not normal in to the hand held camera type films because the filming always 8 out of 10 has this stupid shaky camera effect to make the film look good but comes off really bad on screen , but with this filming they've manged to keep the camera steady so you can actually see whats going.
Ive always like this type of concept in film as it give's a mysterious element to what actual what lye in a pyramid as you go deeper this dosent disappoint, through out the film it keep the story flowing perfect with some pretty intense moments with some pretty dark atmospheric tone which adds to the character being trapped inside as they get themselves lost in the labyrinth of tunnels, corridors & room's the added touch of strange creatures add the danger concept in the film.
I'm glad that they didn't bring the mummy element in to this film because it would have made it another mummy B-movie which has been done so many time before i think it would have made the film a little to cheesy & it would have lost its intense feel as the story is unfolding.
The acting is very convincing from all the actors one actor you will know from the comedy series inbetweeners James Buckley done a great job although not the main characters like Ashley Hinshaw Denis O'Hare who kept the element of fear in the film going shows good acting performances through out the film along with Christa Nicola who play the news reporter they all keep the flow going making this a very believable concept film.
As i have said this is not a Hollywood high budget film this is a B-movie so i wouldn't expect to much in frightening moments although there was a few moments your thrown back thinking W.T.H was that as the film goes in to the third act of the film. It very clever at keep the main horror in the film away from the audience until the very end which kept the dark horror atmospheric tone & intensely mood of being trap in the film which other horror film fail at because they show the creature or killer to early in the film which ruin the flow you lose intense.
By them not doing this in this film it keep you watching until the very end to find out what the hell this thing is as it cleverly dosent show what it is but only shows something grabbing someone out of eye sight which i loved about this film because it leaves you in shock & thinking how big this thing is or where it is in the mass labyrinth of the pyramid, although this wasn't a bad film there was a few moments i notice that was stupidly put in made some scene kind of unbelievable which leaves this film with a few flaws. It a film i recommend for fan of the B-movies or creature feature films, some other may like it depends on your taste of film's.

Dislikes : Flaw's in this film are only a few not over the top flaws but noticeable flaws which this this film could have been better done. I notice in one scene as they are deep in the pyramid when they left a room there was a light source coming from the room which kind of a movie mistake because their shouldn't of been any light apart from the torches they were carrying being that deep underground. (SPOILER ALERT) The other thing is the animation on Anubis i felt this could have had a bit more budget to make it look a bit more real, menacing & frighting because the C.G.I looked really bad at curtain points felt cheaply made like a syfy channel creature, coming from a 20th century fox film this could of had more budget put in to it because you could actually see this was a Computer generated creature that just didn't look good on screen which kind of ruined the film slightly which is a shame as the film as the rest of the film was perfectly shot.

Overall : Intense moment, dark atmospheric tone, great mysterious horror, just a bit of a let down ending.

Rating: 4.3 out of 5 for entertainment / 7.2 out of 10 for concept.

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: There is discussion of a character being a virgin.

Violence & Gore: We see  the burned bodies of two men, it's brief but pretty gross.
A man kills another man with a wrench by hitting him over the head. He hits him off-screen but we briefly see the man's bloody head wound.

Profanity:  F-word throughout, nothing too graphic.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Some men drink beer.
A reference is made to a man  killing himself by overdosing on pills.
A man smokes a cigarette.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: The whole film gets more and more intense as it goes along.
some scene can be upset & frightening.

Story: In order to make good with his former employers, a submarine captain takes a job with a shadowy backer to search the depths of the Black Sea for a submarine rumored to be loaded with gold. But the situation become a fight for survival as thing go from bad to worst.

Likes : Knowing this was going to be a low budget film, im not normal a fan of Jude law film's because they can be normal boring  or slow but this film surprised me in being a pretty good film that has the concept of like das boot, abyss with out the aliens, u-571 without the war concept in a submarine that surprisingly good.
The base's of the film revolves around Jude law characters Captain Robinson who is given a job to search for an old 2nd world war Nazi sub that hold gold bullion in the deep ocean on the black sea with a group of able men. The one thing i can say about this film is if you going to nic pick ya some of the laws of psychic are unbelievable in this film but forgivable in place, the under water scene are brilliantly done to show a very convincing environment being in the deep ocean.
What start out to be a slow film turn into a roller-coaster intense moments as things start to go extremely wrong but not only this this you learn there is a twist in the film which give the film & little bit more intense feeling to he story which really helps this film alot.
It dose have that das boot feeling where as the crew struggle to keep themselves alive as thing start to go wrong as the situation goes from bad to extremely bad along with the k-19 & hunt for the red October feel as the crew start to turn on each other weather this is gold sickness or the fight just to survival not really sure but add an element of intensely.
The acting is pretty good for a believable setting to the concept, dose play homage to the old submarine movies in many way so it not a bad film to watch, if you like these type of film's, although i would be warned that some moment in this film can be very intense & frightening some scene in this film can be upsetting but a worth watching film.

Dislikes : The only problem is the physic in this film some scene show things that are complete impossible to happen which make the film slightly unbelievable but these are nic picking moments as the rest of the film is pretty good.

Overall : This has the old submarine concept of the old movies which is good. very intense & frighting in place's

Rating: 4.2 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for concept.
