Story: In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all began, Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how these cultural rebels-armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent-stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world's most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today
Likes : Wow straight away with this film concept you can see it a very controversial film that hard hitting film portraying the NWA back in the 80s. Straight Outta Compton is the story of a group of 5 men that most of us will know as N.W.A growing up in Compton with struggle they face with the police as well as their rise to fame and how they influenced the world.
It a very informative & interest film to watch which actually shows that the police still haven't change since the 80s, they still go above the law & do uncalled things, im actually surprised they add the Rodney king clip of the police officer that brutal murder a unarmed guy over a racist stuff.
It interesting to know how these guys actually went through with having to deal with loan shark music producers & the police as well, they pretty much had a rough life bring music to the world.
One thing i did noticed is that they were met to be all friends yet i see alot of back stabbing & fighting of music contracts & money, which is good for the film because it dosent hold anything back.
O'Shea Jackson Jr. , Corey Hawkins & Jason Mitchell brilliant performance portraying Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Easy-E, of the nwa which produced alot of bad review from people but i dont think these younger generate understand what it was like growing up in the 80s, it was a few years of controversial government mistakes, people rioting because the police officers that killed Rodney king got away with it, there was a lot of raciest bull from the police back in the 80s, this film actually portrays this brilliant as well as the group struggling to make it big. This is a film worth checking out.
Dislikes : I did notice one error in the film, CDs in a record era, CD were in until the the late 1990s, but that the only thing i noticed.
Overall : Very emotional gripping, controversial film
Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for portrayal of N.W.A
