Likes : First thing i can say is where critic have gone wrong in there review's is the fact this film is not based on the history of the 47 ronin, its a film inspired by the 47 ronin with a dark fantasy concept thrown in which surprisingly is really good for the film.
The director has done a fantastic job at capturing the beauty & culture of the medieval samurai ways down to every samurai ways of dishonor & to the way they dressed,(Keanu Reeves) as Kai is the main protagonist of 47 Ronin. brought focus and believable to the scenes of battle and impossible love. No one pulls off demon fighting and magical elements like Reeves. And no one is better at being repressed, abused, and stigmatized and still coming round to everyone's aid like Reeves does. I believe Hiroyuki Sanada, Kô Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa  & the other casted samurai should get a mention as well for their outstanding performance in this film to bring us the real culture of the samurai & the 47 Ronin they did the performance with honor.
Rinko Kikuchi performance as the witch was brilliant the special effect were brilliant done as she transforms her self, in some scene seriously creepy. Costumes looked authentic, Hair and makeup not overdone to make it all the more believable, the special effect were second to none i will say this is a brilliantly made film.
There wasn't much in fantasy wise but the scene that were thrown in just add to the magic of the film special the scene with Keanu in the cave speaking to a demon ,which the best way to describe it looked like a eagle face demon with a very power fighting style to move extremely fast. The effect on this scene were second to none & brilliant but there was also a message in that scene as well that everything you see is not always what it seem to be, brilliant scene.
The dragon demon effect was brilliant done along with all the C.G.I in this film what really surprising is the fact it didn't look fake at all that what makes this film beautiful made. This is a film i highly recommend you go to watch a the cinema.

Dislikes : The only Thing it dose get a little slow in places & i think there could of been a little fantasy elements in the film, but it was brilliant made none the less.

Overall : Fantastic fantasy samurai culture film, totally worth watching.

Rating:  4.7 out of 5 for entertainment / 9.3 out of 10 for fantasy/ Japaneses samurai culture
