Likes : This is a movie that a perfect example of using spoof comedy & action together when it done right, uses the typical mentor/apprentice concept with a very modern English twist on it. Although this is very different from Kick-ass (story wise) Matthew Vaughn does use his personalized style of stylized violence and epic explosive scenes with a comic book style violence perfect.
From watching the film it was very clear that this movie was made by the director of Kick ass. Similarly to Kick ass this movie takes a realistic look at an idea and puts it in a comical action movie which works extremely well to keep the film not only funny as hell but entertaining with the comic book style action although there was a slight racist comment made in the film i think its easy to miss, i would say they got away with that.
This is just a class film, Taron Egerton playing the run of the mill jack the lad getting in to trouble because of his step father, who one of the thug boss's, gets him self in to heat, but get a chance to save his life by stepping in to his fathers shoes, he play this role brilliant with a what you would call a foul month teenage transaction to a lethal fighting spie, he has a lot of funny moment in this film.
Colin Firth normal play the stereo type stiff upper lip Englishman but i was pleased to see him play this type of role with a funny side, he really kick ass in this film, special the pub scene as it will have the audience laughing their heads off while at the same time in shock with your mouth open thinking Holy sh*t.Just an outstanding performance to shake off the stereo typing roles he normal plays.
Mark Strong awesome actor although some of his scene were short in this film, he manages to pull off the funny side moments as well which just made this so much better.Samuel L. Jackson performance brilliant as always playing the bond type villain which was funny as hell with a ghetto concept character which worked, this just show how good Samuel L. Jackson is as an actor.
Sofia Boutella was world class as Gazelle, which was a good nick name for her having two steel feet with blades, which reminds me of Oddjob from gold finger type henchmen but in this class Hench woman.
If i was to describe this movie as a whole, i would definitely say this is a funny as hell, brilliant James bond type spoof movie that is very entertaining & funny with great action & comic style violence to not show to much blood in the film than it already has but this is a film worth checking out.
Dislikes : just the slight racist comment which i think could of done without
but the reset is good.
Overall : Brilliant Comedy, Perfect blend of action & comic book style violence, perfect acting.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 10 out of 10 for concept (spoof action comedy).
