Story: On the morning of May 10, 1996, climbers (Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin) from two expeditions start their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. With little warning, a violent storm strikes the mountain, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man. Challenged by the harshest conditions imaginable, the teams must endure blistering winds and freezing temperatures in an epic battle to survive against nearly impossible odds

Likes : I remember the day this event took place as it was all over the news on that day, it was such a tragic day for a group of brave mountaineer how just when on the day of the year as the weather dangerously turn on them.
This film portrays the brilliantly as the director hasn't left any stone unturned, unlike most director where they just make the film & make things up he actually done his research on the events of that day as well as an interview with the Beck Weathers that they through was dead, managed through shear will to live against all odd walked back to based camp in alot of pain through exposure.
The soundtrack and cinematography are just amazing for such a film i feel should get an Oscar for a compelling emotional & intense story of true events. The acting is brilliant done & portray each person that when up that mountain should get an Oscar for it.
There are so many stunning and majestic places on earth , spellbinding as mount Everest itself is its one of the most dangerous places on earth, its not the easiest of mountain to climb over the years it come to be name the mountain of death as over 81 people have lost there lives on the side of Everest since 1922 to 2015. Its become a grave yard of body's as it to dangerous to bring the body's back due to altitude & weather it would just add more body's to the mountain they are still there today frozen in place where they died.
Baltasar is an Icelandic film-maker who knows how to shoot a film in such an environment where the weather can be unpredictable and it can go against you at any time. He didn't want all of this movie to be shot entirely in a studio, this is not entirely visual effects work, they actually went to Nepal and some of the other locations include Val Senales,
Italy. It's out there in the elements, outdoors locations that force even the actors themselves to leave their trailer comfort zone behind. And that is evident on screen, it really shows, because every single frame successfully makes us the audience feel like we're there, we feel the danger, as if we're there climbing the mountain, feeling the pain that comes with excruciating cold because human bodies aren't design to survive such temperature.
I think the timing of the arrival of this movie could not have been more perfect. If EVEREST was made a decade or fifteen years ago, for example, when film making technology and the cameras weren't as advanced, I'm not sure if it could've given us a movie-watching experience of this quality.
This truly is an incredible film to watch that will shock you & have you in tears from the sheer emotional moments not because of what you see on screen its knowing that what you seeing actually happened to these brave men & woman on that mountain in may 11th 1996. This truly is a film to watch brilliantly filmed to be realistic & true facts where use to make this film realistic as possible in memory of those who lost there lives. May they rest in peace

Dislikes : Nothing wrong with this film.

Spoiler Alert if you don't wish to know who died on may 11th 1996 to watch the film for yourselves please skip past this bit below as it reveal big spoilers from the film.

In loving memory of the mountaineers who lost there lives on may 11th 1996 May they all rest in peace:

                                                      Rob Hall R.I.P
                                      (14 January 1961 – 11 May 1996
Adventure Consultants' 1996 Everest expedition consisted of eight clients and three guides (Hall, Mike Groom and Andy Harris). Among the clients was Jon Krakauer, a journalist on assignment from Outside magazine. Hall had brokered a deal with Outside for advertising space in exchange for a story about the growing popularity of commercial expeditions to Everest.
Shortly after midnight on 10 May 1996, the Adventure Consultants expedition began a summit attempt from Camp IV, atop the South Col. They were joined by climbers from Scott Fischer's Mountain Madness company, as well as expeditions sponsored by the governments of Taiwan and India.
The expeditions quickly encountered delays. Upon reaching the Hillary Step, the climbers discovered that no fixed line had been placed, and they were forced to wait for an hour while the guides installed the ropes (Rob nonetheless "fixed most of the mountain in 1996"). Because some 33 climbers were attempting the summit on the same day, and Hall and Fischer had asked their climbers to stay within 150 m of each other, there were bottlenecks at the single fixed line at the Hillary Step. Many of the climbers had not yet reached the summit by 2:00 pm, the last safe time to turn around in order to reach Camp IV before nightfall.
Hall's Sardar, Ang Dorje Sherpa, and other climbing Sherpas waited at the summit for the clients. Near 3:00 pm, they began their descent. On the way down, Ang Dorje encountered client Doug Hansen above the Hillary Step, and ordered him to descend. Hansen refused. When Hall arrived at the scene, he sent the Sherpas down to assist the other clients, and stated that he would remain to help Hansen, who had run out of supplementary oxygen.
At 5:00 pm, a blizzard struck the Southwest Face of Everest, diminishing visibility and obliterating the trail back to Camp IV. Shortly afterward, Hall radioed for help, saying that Hansen had fallen unconscious but was still alive. Adventure Consultants guide Andy Harris began climbing to the Hillary Step at 5:30 pm with supplementary oxygen and water.
On 11 May, at 4:43am, Hall radioed down and said that he was on the South Summit. He reported that Harris had reached the two men, but that Hansen had died sometime during the night and that Harris was missing as well. Hall was not breathing bottled oxygen, because his regulator was too choked with ice. By 9:00 am, Hall had fixed his oxygen mask, but indicated that his frostbitten hands and feet were making it difficult to traverse the fixed ropes. Later in the afternoon, he radioed to Base Camp, asking them to call his wife, Jan Arnold, on the satellite phone. During this last communication, he reassured her that he was reasonably comfortable and told her, "Sleep well my sweetheart. Please don't worry too much." Shortly thereafter, he died, and his body was found on 23 May by mountaineers from the IMAX expedition.

                                                 Scott Fischer R.I.P
                                 December 24, 1955 – May 11, 1996
Six weeks after returning from a charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Fischer left Seattle and travelled to the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. On May 6, the Mountain Madness team left Base Camp (17,500 feet) for their summit climb. At Camp II (21,325 feet, the height of Mount McKinley), Fischer learned that his long-time client and friend, Dale Kruse, was ill below him at Camp I (19,898 feet). Determined to be the one to tell Kruse that his Everest dreams were over, Fischer descended from Camp II, met up with Kruse and continued to Base Camp with his client. The next morning he left Base Camp and ascended to rejoin his team at Camp II, tired after the 4,000-foot climb. Having missed the additional rest time that the remainder of his team had had at Camp II, he was slow on ascent to Camp III (24,500 feet) the following day. Early in the morning on May 9, more than 50 climbers left Camp III for Camp IV at the South Col (25,938 feet). Scott was among the last of them. Just before midnight they all set out for the summit.
Fischer reached the summit after 3:30 pm, much later than he had planned. He radioed Base Camp that he was weary and felt ill. His good friend and long-time climbing partner, Lopsang Jangbu Sherpa, descended part of the way with him into the blizzard that became known as the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. They met up again just above the Balcony (27,559 feet), where Fischer encouraged Lopsang to descend without him and send back Anatoli Boukreev, one of the Mountain Madness guides, to help. Suffering from hypoxia and probably cerebral edema as well, Fischer sat down and never got up again. After the storm subsided, on May 11, two Sherpas climbing from Camp IV reached Fischer and Makalu Gau Ming-Ho, leader of the Taiwanese National Expedition. Fischer was unresponsive and his breathing was shallow. The Sherpas placed an oxygen mask over his face and rescued Gau, whom they carried to Camp IV. After rescuing several other people in the storm, Boukreev finally reached Fischer, but his friend had already died. Boukreev shrouded Fischer’s upper torso and moved his body off the main climbing route. His body remains on the mountain.

Doug Hansen R.I.P
May 28, 1949 -  May 11, 1996
A client with Adventure Consultants. Hansen is a postal worker who climbed Everest one year before but had to turn back just a few hundred feet from the summit. He and Krakauer become close friends. Hansen is at the summit with Hall when the storm hits on May, 10. Died may 11th on the South Summit from exposure.

                                        Andrew "andy " harris  R.I.P
                                         29 / 9 / 1964 - 10 / 5/ 1996
Andy Harris, was weakened and acting irrationally from altitude and lack of oxygen. Mr Krakauer thought he had watched him return to camp; in fact, he apparently strayed over a 4,000ft precipice. Died from falling 4,000 ft

Dorje Morup R.I.P
1 October 1948 – May 10, 1996

was a member of the First Indian team to reach the summit of Mount Everest from the North Col.Morup was one among three Indians who died on the mountain during the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. While descending from the summit, Morup was trapped in a blizzard, and died due to exposure. His body remains on the mountain. He is believed by some to be the unidentified climber called "Green Boots" which is used by some as a trail marker

Yasuko Namba R.I.P
February 2, 1949 - May 11, 1996

On May 10, 1996, the 47-year-old Namba reached the summit of Everest, becoming the oldest woman to do so (her record was later beaten by Anna Czerwińska of Poland who summitted Everest at age 50). She was still high on the mountain rather late into the afternoon, and was descending when a blizzard struck. Namba, fellow client Beck Weathers, and their guide Mike Groom from Adventure Consultants and clients from Scott Fischer's Mountain Madness were stuck on the South Col, while a whiteout prevented them from knowing where the tents lay. Groom later said that Namba insisted on putting her oxygen mask on despite the fact that she had run out of oxygen. Both Namba and Weathers were so weak that the two guides (Groom and Neal Beidleman from Mountain Madness) had to support them. Although the group tried to head to the tents, the guides soon realized it was pointless and dangerous, and waited for a break in the storm.
One of Fischer's guides, Anatoli Boukreev, set out from Camp IV into the night to find the cluster of trapped climbers. After assisting several other people, he came back one last time for Sandy Pittman and Tim Madsen. Madsen, who assumed that Namba was dead and Weathers was a "lost cause," left the two alone. The following day, Stuart Hutchinson, one of the clients on Adventure Consultants, organized a search party to find both Namba and Weathers. Hutchinson found both in such horrible shape – unlikely to live long enough to be carried down to Base Camp – and decided to leave the two alone to save limited resources for the other climbers.
While Weathers somehow survived and walked back to camp, Namba never moved again. She died alone, in the middle of the night, from exhaustion and exposure to the harsh conditions of the mountain. Krakauer's book, Into Thin Air, describes the anguish of Neal Beidleman, who felt guilty that he was unable to do anything more to save Namba. Boukreev's book The Climb expressed profound regret at her lonely death, saying that she was just a little 90-pound woman, and that someone should have dragged her back to camp so she could at least die among her companions. On a later expedition to Everest with the Indonesian National Team, Boukreev found Namba's body on April 28, 1997. He constructed a cairn around her to protect her from scavenging birds, and a few days later apologized to her widower for failing to save Namba's life. Later in 1997, her husband funded an operation that brought her body down the mountain.

Tsewang Paljor R.I.P

While descending from the summit, he was trapped in a blizzard, and died due to exposure. His body remains on the mountain. Together with his estranged wife, he will stop at nothing to unravel the mystery and find their son-and, in doing so, he unearths a legend that refuses to remain buried in the past.

Likes : First off your gonna here some really bad reviews from people about this but seriously don't listen to anyone that straight point out this film is bad or put this film down. Yes since frozen ground most of Nicolas cage film have been pretty poor lately but thankfully this film is one of the good ones out of the bunch.
This isn't your average horror film as its one of those film that has a psychological feel mixed with a pagan mythology of Halloween where the world between the living & the dead is open for one night of the year until 12pm, this is where this film has this creepy unnieving feel.
It this relationship with the supernatural & the dark places in the world that truly makes this one very spine chill movie to watch special when this film involves children on a supernatural level that really get under your skin & plays with your mind.
The storyline from start to finish is perfectly set up to give this film its creepy edge as you soon realise as the story unfolds that what is happening has been happen for over a few century hence the pagan concept of the film, along with its special effects it reminds me off darkness falls in some way.
The acting is very good from Cage as the father playing a convincing father trying to find his son & Sarah Wayne Callies playing the mother brilliant performance.
The special effects of the this film really give it a spine chilling feel as it dosent reveal to much all at once there are moment it true dosent make you jump, if you looking for a great Halloween movie to watch this is it.

Dislikes : Although the film is a great film the ending did come off a little short as you didn't really see an out come, which should have been shown a bit more, but you do get a credit scene which was kind of creep.

Overall : Great horror film, good story, very underrated.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 7 out of 10 for Halloween pagan concept

Film Review: The Gallows

Genre: Horror, Thriller

Cert: 15 cert

Director: Travis Cluff, Chris Lofing

Screen writer: Travis Cluff, Chris Lofing

Running time: 81 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: A girl says, "We're just going in and out." to which a boy replies "That's what she said." One or two other innuendoes are in the first half.

A boy films in a locker room and makes jokes about the bodies of various shirtless teenage boys.

Violence & Gore: Some disturbing violent content but only few scenes actually involving blood (hard to see except for second body discovery sequence) and only one scene of mild gore ) neck abrasions, second and third inspection sequence (third sequence precedes character's actual death).

The film centers on a supernatural 'hangman' from a play who is killing off teens trying to ruin the set of a newer version of the play.

We see (during a play, through a camera) a young man who dies because of a fault set piece. He gets strangled by a noose. This is seen from a distance.

An invisible force chokes a girl and we later see the abrasions on her neck. Throughout the movie the abrasions worsen.

The same invisible force ties a noose around a teen's neck and hoists him into the air, killing him as his neck snaps upon reaching the top which cuts him out view by the blackened area leading up to the ceiling. Body of the janitor is found dangling from the ceiling of a crawlspace area, minute traces of blood on ground near his dropped watch. Girl's neck wounds are bloody, scalded and beginning to boil over the course of the movie. Relatively unseen but girl dragged away is subsequently killed as invisible hangman bashes her against slamming exit doors. [spoiler]Bodies of teenage boy and girl discovered hanging in boardwalk rafters and amongst large pipe faucets, girl's feet are shown dangling (no blood) however boy's face comes into focus as another boy comes inches from his face with camera and reveals small traces of bloody scratches and bruises on his discolored dead face

2 uses of ass, 2 uses of hell, 1 use of damn

4 uses of shit (1 is inaudible)

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: None

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  There's jump scares throughout and one scene where the ghost slowly creeps up in the background.

Overall Rating: 17/50

Official MPAA Rating: R Some Disturbing Violent Content and Terror. Located on the films official website.

Suggested MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sequences of disturbing violence and brief strong language

Story: 20 years after a horrific accident during a small town school play, students at the school resurrect the failed show in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy - but soon discover that some things are better left alone.

Likes : There been alot of horror film over the past years, some have been good other not so good, but some sub-genre have been over used alot. This start off with a temporary story that some what sets up a horror story although it was a little weak in setting up a horror story.
Yes some area at the begin was creepy & a little atmospheric but sadly this film just wasn't frightening enough, this is the problem found footage film they are being over used in horror film, they just arnt frightening.

Dislikes : The one big problem this film has is the start of the film, ya slightly set up a story but when a film dosent get the set up story right the whole film dosent feel right, which sadly this film dosent work so well.
It come off as a student film instead of a feature film, which really should have been a straight to DVD film instead of the cinema, it very generic & to much screaming & running around, not to mention copying the concept from paranormal activity & ghost encounters which really pulls this film down.
Sadly this is not a horror film i can recommend to watch, although its a fair effort in making a horror but found footage horror is not scary at all it take away everything that makes it the horror frighting it just comes off a student film from someone that just start out in the film industry.

Overall : watch-able but sadly fails in horror. student film at best, but nothing to rush out to watch as there is better horror film around.

Rating: 3 out of 5 for entertainment / 4.1 out of 10 for horror concept

Film Review: The Transporter Refueled (REBOOT)

Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller

Cert: 15 cert

Director: Camille Delamarre

Screen writer: Adam Cooper (written by) & Bill Collage (written by) & Luc Besson, Robert Mark Kamen

Starring: Ed Skrein , Ray Stevenson , Loan Chabanol , Gabriella Wright , Tatiana Pajkovic , Wenxia Yu , Radivoje Bukvic , Noémie Lenoir , Yuri Kolokolnikov , Lenn Kudrjawizki , Samir Guesmi , Anatole Taubman , Robbie Nock , Michael Morris , Nash Novcic

Running time: 96 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some sexual material, language and drug references.

By the same directors/makers of Taken, and 3 Days to Kill. If you have seen any of those movies, this is similar in these categories.

Man shown in bed sleeping with two women. The main character kisses a woman, removing shirt (sex is implied IN THIS VERY BRIEF SCENE WITH NO NUDITY). More kissing; women shown dancing and lounging in some skimpy outfits.

Violence & Gore: Prostitution/Slave trafficking is the main theme of the movie like the first Taken.

Strong, frequent fighting; not much blood or gore (aside from a somewhat gory bullet-removal scene). Guns are fired, and many secondary characters die. Burned corpses. Frequent martial arts fighting. Frequent car chases, exploding cars. Lots of peril/danger. A woman is pistol-whipped in the face.

Profanity:  1 use of "f--k", close to 20 of "shit" and "ass" combined and 1-2 uses of "bitch"

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Heroin overdoses are referenced by the kingpin

Also champagne, beer and vine is drinking in the movie.

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  Appropriate for 13+

Story: Frank Martin, played by newcomer Ed Skrein, a former special-ops mercenary, is now living a less perilous life - or so he thinks - transporting classified packages for questionable people. When Frank's father (Ray Stevenson) pays him a visit in the south of France, their father-son bonding weekend takes a turn for the worse when Frank is engaged by a cunning femme-fatale, Anna (Loan Chabanol), and her three seductive sidekicks to orchestrate the bank heist of the century. Frank must use his covert expertise and knowledge of fast cars, fast driving and fast women to outrun a sinister Russian kingpin, and worse than that, he is thrust into a dangerous game of chess with a team of gorgeous women out for revenge. From the producers of LUCY and the TAKEN trilogy, THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED is a fresh personification of the iconic role of Frank Martin, that launches the high-octane franchise into the present-day and introduces it to the next generation of thrill-seekers.

Likes : I went in to this film with low expectation, which was a good choice to do because ya this film is just about good to watch but it was that great of a film if im honest. Fair play for new-comer Ed Skrein for doing this role, he's certainly is a good actor has prove that with this film, but i feel this was the wrong role for him as a fighter as Skrein dose his best to reach that level but fails in experience which dose come off on screen which is a shame.
The story of the film is pretty solid its what you would expect from a action thriller, the pace is ok, the story dose go along at a stead pace, but i wouldn't go as far as to say high octane action though this film kind of lacks that slightly.
All though this film has great action scene you do find yourself compare the two films, which is ok but you can spot the failure with this version.

Dislikes : One problem i notice was with the lack of experience in the industry Ed Skrein which i feel should of been give a different better role because the character he was trying to play didn't come off as a soldier & that been trained in hand to hand combat.
The fight scene were a little weak as it came off on scene that this was the first time choreographed in martial arts combat, he did well but i think for these type of role Ed need a be more experience in fight on screen, because statham version of the film was better in fights.
i would say the story was weak but it kind of felt flat at times, like it was trying to hard to measure up to the other version, instead of being its own version which i noticed it try to copy in some place it just didn't come off well.

Overall : Good car chases, shame the fighting was great but it was just about ok to watch.

Rating: 4.1 out of 5 for entertainment / 5.8 out of 10 for concept

Film Review: Southpaw

Genre: Action, Drama, Sport

Cert: 15 cert

Director: Antoine Fuqua

Screen writer: Kurt Sutter

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal , Rachel McAdams , Forest Whitaker , Oona Laurence , 50 Cent , Skylan Brooks , Naomie Harris , Victor Ortiz , Beau Knapp , Miguel Gomez , Dominic Colón , Jose Caraballo , Malcolm M. Mays , Aaron Quattrocchi , Lana Young

Running time: 124 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Mild sexual references.
Some quick kisses.
A man and wife are sitting on a bed and hug/embrace after an emotional discussion. Billy caresses her body and you quickly see her underwear.
Maureen is shown with cleavage showing in some scenes.

Violence & Gore: The majority of the violence is during the boxing scenes, but there are scenes of other violence throughout also.

After a press conference, an argument pursues between Billy Hope and Miguel Escobar, and after a few punches are thrown, a guard pulls out a gun, shoots, and the bullet flies astray and hits Maureen Hope, Billy's wife. She is shown bleeding on the ground, and Billy is shown screaming for help until she dies. Very sad.

Billy and Tick Willis are in the gym when Tick reveals that Hoppy, a boxing prodigy at the gym, was shot by his father in an act of domestic violence. Hoppy was trying to protect his mother.

Punches and blood are shown in the boxing matches, nothing extremely gory is shown however.

Billy drives his car into a tree in the backyard, and Leila finds him passed out on the floor.

Profanity:  50 or more uses of "fuck", as well as uses of shit, dick, bitch, and some small racial slurs.

Escobar uses bitch multiple times to enrage Billy at a press conference.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking References to drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

Billy is said to have used alcohol and prescription drugs before the car accident in which he loses custody of his daughter.

A few scenes in a bar where alcohol is present

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  This movie is an emotional roller coaster. It deals with loss of loved ones, losing custody of a daughter, drug abuse, loss of reputation, and domestic violence. Be prepared to be emotionally confused when you leave this film. However, it is a phenomenal movie, and I highly recommend it to sports and boxing film fans, or anyone in particular to be honest.

Before Billy Hope loses his wife he is seen crying and yelling for help while holding her bleeding and lifeless body in his arms. Very emotionally upsetting.

Billy drives his car into a tree in his backyard and his daughter finds him passed out and bloody on the floor downstairs.

The first court summons to determine if Billy is responsible enough to keep his daughter is emotional when the guards are keeping them apart and Leila is screaming for him. The scene when Billy learns from Tick that Hoppy died from being shot by his father is very sad and upsetting.

The fights in the beginning and end are bloody and a little gory, but the fight in the end is more intense because he is fighting the man who ultimately shot his wife.

Story: As tragedy strikes him in his prime, famed boxer, Billy Hope, begins to fall into a great depression. Once the decision regarding the custody of his daughter is under question, Billy decides to get his life back on track by getting back into the ring.

Likes : I've seen alot of boxing film so there not much in original in this film but nothing like this, the writing & direction of the film are on point to really show the tough gritty world when i man loss's everything & has to build himself back up.
I bet alot of people would compare this to the rocky film's, but this set rocky apart & stands on it own as a brilliant film , although there are some element that are similar with two scenes, but this is all that has similarity too rocky 3 & rocky 5 the rest of the film stand on it own.
Jake Gyllenhaal performance in this film as Billy Hope is awesome , a light heavyweight champion of the world with a 43-0 record. who unfortunately due to a uncontrollable violent temper, tragedy strikes him & his family until he is left with nothing no fortune, no career, his own daughter get take away from him.
Despondent and desperate  we see the Jake character, Billy swallows his pride and seeks the assistance of trainer Tick Wills played by Forest Whitaker who performance is brilliant as the trainer that bring him back to fighting form.
"Southpaw" is an acting showcase for Jake Gyllenhaal who is amazing actor that is over looked alot in the Oscars for  Best Actor nomination, but his certainly proved that his acting wasn't just a fluke  as we see from his last film "Nightcrawler",  Jake Gyllenhaal gave us all the creeps with his very realistic portrayal of sociopathic pseudo-video journalist Louis Bloom that a swear the guy was i'll but clearly lose alot of weight for the role, as you see him a few years later in this film beefed up & looking like a beast in the ring. This is amazing transformation from one character to another that show Jake is worthy of an Oscar.
Despite her name being so prominent in the posters, Rachel McAdams appeared on screen only for a very limited time, but we see clearly the effect of her strong character Maureen on her husband Billy as she make all the decision in the house protect him. Bespectacled little Oona Laurence playing their spirited daughter Leila. Gyllenhaal and Laurence share some pretty intensely emotional scenes together which really bring you to tears.
This truly is one of the best extraordinary boxing films this year that's worth checking out with a very realistic gripping, gritty emotional story that will have you route for billy's come back throughout the film.

Dislikes : Its nothing original but you can look past that, as this is a brilliant film.

Overall :  Grippingly honest acting from Jake Gyllenhaal definitely set this film apart from others.
