Story: In this retelling of Rick Riordans book, "The Sea of Monsters", Percy Jackson, accompanied by his friends Annabeth Chase, Clarisse La Rue and Tyson, his half brother, goes on a journey to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve the Golden Fleece and save Camp Half-Blood.
Likes : This Ive got to admit this is a great family film, it has the funny banter, the weird wonderful creature of mythology with a great storyline. As fantasy film go this is brilliant for your kids, its not to scary but there are a few scenes that maybe frightening to a younger viewer so you have to be aware of that. The acting is brilliant from all cast member ,the comical part kind come
Brandon T. Jackson who plays Grover Underwood, satyr and the Lord of the Wild. He's the satyr who found the demigods Thalia Grace, Nico and Bianca di Angelo, Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Luke Castellan. Altho he dose look out of place in the film he is funny. Logan Lerman reprise the role of percy Jackson who seem to have a crisis of faith in tis film but is help along the way with his friends Annabeth Chase played by the beautiful Alexandra Daddario, who really play this part well, she seem to have this hateful regret of the past which is shown in this film of something that happen. Jake Abel return as Luke Castellan the trouble teenage with a grudge against the world & Percy for what happened in this first film & his father which is played by (firefly star Nathan Fillion cameo) who has a very funny scene even tho is only for 10 mins. Also starring Buffy's Anthony Head as the centor teacher Mr Brunner/ Chiron is the teacher of Percy Jackson who give Percy a powerful weapon. Mr Brunner is on motorized wheelchair, his legs covered in a blanket. Also starring the well known actor Stanley Tucci who plays Dionysus who seem to off affended the god some how which shows in the film.
I love the way they show mythology in this film from the old Greek god but making it into the fantasy world full of fun & excitement for all the family. This story will take you on the journey for a quest for the golden fleece but as before will have to over come curtain dangers. The one thing I do like about this film is the fantasy concept behind it, there is nothing better than a fantasy film to take you mind to a amazing place when you can just relax & escape the world for a bit. But you will also discover Percy has a destiny, that one scene when he has to discover that destiny was kind of creepy so it mite be a little creepy & maybe frightening for your younger viewer as it dose have a concept of a horror film. But I would say this is worth watching if you love fantasy family film, you wont be disappoint & your kids will love this film as it dose have some magical moments that will make you laugh & cry.
Dislikes : I like I said before its a great family film but its not the best fantasy ive seen, the story dose lack that brilliant epic adventure feel of a fantasy but still a great family film to watch.
Overall : Wonderfull mythology creatures, great banter & funny jokes, great film for all the family.
Rating: 4.2 out of 5 for Entertainment / 7.4 out of 10 for Mythology Theme
