Cert: This is not strong enough to be an 18 cert but, i would advise parents that no one under 15 should watch this film due to contence
Story: In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky - shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerrilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom
Likes : I don't think this film has been given enough credit, yes there are a few people that don't like reboots of a film but this wasn't to bad of a film to watch, it got the action that most people like, its got drama & intense fighting, you could ask for a better hour an half film since Ive seen worst film than this & it gets a bad review. This film was really enjoy to watch, i love the realism of the concept of a invading country because it can come true. This film is well balance with action as well as keep the film focused on the group of teenage trying to survive & fighting back at north Korean troops that have taken over the country & most of the free world.Since the original in 1984 starring The late Patrick Swayze (r.i.p) & Charlie Sheen the storyline hasn't change part from the more intense action scene.Special the inspirational speech that inspired people to hope & rise up against the invader really brought a emotional concept to the film itself.Chris Hemsworth plays Jed Eckert, his character is a military man just back from Iraq when his visit is short lived & is force to become a father figure not only for he bother but for the rest of the group as well & train them to fight & survive with the skills he's learn in the army.
Josh Peck play jed brother Matt Eckert, now i found his character very selffish in a way, because he never plays as a team player, its this attitude that get the group in trouble,he seem to learn that being apart of a team mean there is no i in team, he learns from his brother ways.Josh Hutcherson plays Robert Kitner, He is a member of the "Wolverines", the armed resistance against the occupation forces. which at first his character dosent seem to want to be there but learning that he's parents were killed it hit him hard he over comes that fear & come in to he own becomes a good fighter. The beautiful Adrianne Palicki play Toni Walsh older sister to Erica Martin, her character sem to be a love interest for jed character although short lived she is a very good fighter. Isabel Lucas plays the younger sister Erica Martin, her character is the girlfriend of matt, who at first ends up captured.Other members of the wolverines were Connor Cruise who plays Daryl Jenkins, Edwin Hodge who plays Danny ,Alyssa Diaz who plays Julie, Julian Alcaraz plays the complete nob of the group Greg, his character betray the group but he's treason is short lived. Will Yun Lee plays the korean captain Cho who character is very ruthless & will stop at nothing to bring down the wolverines. Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays a us marine Tanner, ive see jeffrey dean morgan actoring in a few films he is a brilliant actor, also in the popular tv series supernatural as the father of the the Winchesters, in this film he's after a green box like telephone to bring down the invaders along with he team Kenneth Choi plays Smith & Matt Gerald who plays Hodges.
Dislike: The only thing with this film which dose let it down slightly is the ending, its kind of left to you imagination to weather they win or not.
Overall : It not a bad film to watch, its an average film, but it depends on what your into, this type of film wont appeal to everyone, but its worth watching.
Rating: 4 out of 5 for storyline / 7.5 out of 10 for concept & action
