Running time: 130 min

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: None. Unless you count the apes I guess. There are people sleeping in open tents and a couple sleeps together fully dressed and no intimacy is remotely hinted at or really fathomable for the setting.

Violence & Gore: Main characters die and make suicidal attacks during battle.
Intense gritty violence. Some blood and gun play.
Main characters are suddenly murdered and attacked by other main characters.
Many intense battle sequences with disturbing images.
More graphic than the first with more violence.
A couple of brutal deaths, and some of them are with animals. Though it is shocking, no gore is shown.
An ape pummels another almost to death. Another ape drags an ape by the neck and throws him over a precipice and it screams the whole way down. A similar scene happens again later (spoiler?)

Profanity: Multiple uses derivatives of "shit"
1 use of the F word, heard clearly and another usage that is muffled and you can still see what he is saying.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Brief tobacco use.
Brief alcohol use.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Some characters are killed abruptly. This may be frightening to some younger viewers, though older viewers will see it coming.
There are some very tense scenes between the humans and apes.

Story: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

Likes : What a phenomenal film film is, set ten years after the first film the ALZ-113 virus has continued to evolve Apes why the rest of the world suffers from a rare disease create by scientists making the alz-113. The Ape Led by Caesar, made their home in the woods and bred a new live & home safe from the out side world. On the other side of the island (and the world), humans are scarce & slowly dying as the virus has had the opposite effect and spread across the world, killing billions which is shown brilliantly in this film. When an unfortunate situation occurs between the two sides, war is imminent. But not all humans and Apes agree with the potentially devastating results.
Whereas Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a stripped back study of the science at the core of the story, whilst investing us in the human drama, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes throws us head first into a very different world.
The scope is immense and multi-layered. At one view, it's a dead, frightening post-apocalyptic world.where the other side, it's brisk, dynamic and visually arresting. Matt Reeves has such a masterful handle on every string and creates brooding scope, claustrophobic tension and powerful action sequences; all amongst a basic, but incredibly rich morality play which is raw and powerfully spoken. What's is fantastic about the character's approach is there is nothing clear cut as the lines between Good vs. Bad meet in the middle and spirals out to both sides with intense moments & emotional scene that will have you in tears.
What needs to be mentioned first is what an astonishing achievement 'Dawn' is when it comes to the use of CGI. Some people can be over critical towards the (over-)use of CGI  which i do agree with in some ways – but this is a clear example of a film that has the level of craftsmanship displayed here simply has to be admired with the C.G.I effects for astonishing film.
It only took me seconds to forget I was watching digital characters (brought to life through the outstanding motion-capture performances by Andy Serkis, Toby Kebbell and Judy Grier – to name but a few), and I can't begin to imagine what a task it must have been for the artists and wizards in the animation department to work on every background and every tiny little detail of every character until this level of seamlessness and reality could be achieved to bring what is the most realistic world in a film ever. See in the first film you knid of see the apes has being the bad guys, but in this film they have give these apes more of a personality you come to root for them & feel sorry for them in the end, this is what i would call a masterpiece i don't normal say that about film's because not all film have reach this level, this is truly a blockbuster of the summer & a film i highly recommend to go see.

Dislikes : Nothing wrong with this film.

Overall : Fantastic visual, great C.G.I. Fantastic story, a must see.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 10 out of 10 for storyline/ C.G.I effects.
