Story: A group of geeky nerd larping unwittingly summon a demon from an ancient book which they though was just a normal role book, now there face with impossible odd to destroy this demon before hell on earth begin's
Likes : First of all this film scream's 80s era, special with the special effect very low budget it the 80s style of special effect concept of this film which isn't to bad but i cant say this was a brilliant film, its enjoyable to watch but i wouldn't go out of my way to said this is a fantastic film.
This is for sure a geek film, just because of the theme & concept of larping, if you a geek your going to love this film.Peter Dinklage (star of game of thrones) does a pretty good job in this film and im pretty shocked to see Summer Glau in this film as well which her performance was brilliant. Let face it She is every geek's wet dream of course. But she really delivered the whole "I'm not really into this but I'm playing along with it" role. She looked amazing in her costume! Her on screen chemistry with the other characters was excellent. She is definitely one of the underrated actresses out there.
The film itself the plot is that of a very standard evil-monster movie and even though it had a very low budget - it manages to escape the feel of a B-movie. It even had some not bad CGI animation on the budget.The rock Ballard at the end kind of make up for the fault in this film, it reminds me of Tenacious D, the movie has that kind of feel to it,it one film i wouldn't rush out to buy your better off renting really unless your n to these types of film's, its does have some funny moments if you find them funny but as i said this isn't the greatest of film, it enjoyable good effort to entertain but fall short of being a great film unless your in to larping (Live action role play) at first it did have that dungeon & dragon feel to it but that kind of fades away during the film,this is one film that not going to be for everyone.
Dislikes : I think this film had potential to go a different way in the story line, like having them transported to a different realm i think this film would of been better than it was,but it failed slightly in that plot line which i think could of worked for the film, its not a bad film but i would pay £10 to see this at a cinema or on DVD.
Overall : Great acting, weak story-line, This is For the geeks really but still a funny film to watch.
